Are these tile choices too busy together?

We are putting tile in above the shower surround (up to the ceiling). i love some tiles i have found but am not sure they work well together. for context, the shower is 3 ft by 3 ft on each side above the surround and the back is 4 ft by 3 feet.

the surround is biscuit colored (old fashioned i guess but we do not have the budget to create an all tile shower). Am thinking of doing the top and bottom thirds of the area above the surround in either a light blue striped tile or a dark blue striped tile and then, in the middle third, adding the arabesque tile as an accent.

the floors are dark brown wood look porcelain tile ( please ignore the dog fur-shedding season!) and the walls are painted light blue.

They don't appear to work well together color wise or style wise on my monitor, sorry.

The striped tile is two different colours in the two photos. In the bottom photo the problem is not 'busy' but that the tile colours clash. No measurments or photo of the room needed to comprehend that.

The tiles don’t really work with each other, or with the surround. I would suggest saving your money for a future upgrade in which you can replace the surround. Adding colors that don’t relate to your fixed elements is just going to make the room look worse.

The most notifying is the blues don’t go together. The arabesque is a very soft more organic mix of blue and earth tones and ghd stripe is bright beach towel blue.

That’s even before considering the busy- ness. I could envision some very sophisticated pattern- mixing of tiles in the same colors, but this is not that.

I don't think I would surround the surround so to speak. It will just draw attention to it without enhancing it. It's a solid surround. They aren't popular in design media but lots of people have them. I would try to work with it rather than around it.
