How big is the table? If it is bigger than 36" the rug is too small IMo I actually dislikerugs under tables and for sure under kitchen tables if you have kids.

No, it is not bigger than 36''. I do not have small kids and the table sits or real wood and not engineered wood.

A simple jute or sisal rug might work

Hi, it would be good to post some pictures of the whole space just to get a feel of everything around it and what would go best. But I would suggest either getting a rug that is simple by choosing a tone of color you already have on your existing rug so they would complement each other and have it in just that one color. In case you feel like that would be too boring and simple for your space and you would like a pattern on the rug I would suggest something less busy in a beige tone you have on the exiting rug with little bit of this red.

Your kitchen’s style and the table should also be considered. As long as there is some repetition of a color, you’ll be fine. Would lighter/fresher work; hard to suggest without seeing kitchen‘s feel.

I find jute rugs to be hard to clean so it would be my last choice for under a table that is used by kids.

They were on Wayfair; note prices reflect Cdn $ so would be less on US site. Unfortunately I noticed the second only comes as large as 6’, but there are lots of styles/contents to choose from on Wayfair. It’s important to keep in mind how easy/difficult chairs will be to slide in and out.
