I would do gutters, downspouts and peak trim in the darker Iron Ore. very nice with your brick.

Thanks Kendrah! The wood does match the window pretty closely. The windows are slightly more yellow...could also be the material difference too.

The yellow/beige color on the second floor looks to be a poor partner with your brick. Is that what you are talking about that matches your windows?

I’d ignore the window color altogether and paint the second floor a color that blends with your brick. Maybe the darker gray.

I guess by wood you mean the vertical siding? I would do everything except leave windows and trim around windows cream.

Similar look with darker entry lights etc. Very nice look. The cream paint is the “before” and the darker is the “after” look.

Will you be happy if the house takes on a much darker, more somber overall appearance with the changes to gray tones? Maybe someone with a computer paint program could take a couple of the photos you shared and show you what the facades would look like with the proposed changes to gray tones? That would be very helpful as you make decisions.

I would. As I said above, the yellow doesn’t work IMO.

Yes. Only cream would be trim around windows.

I tried to edit it with colors avail on my iphone to get a feel for what it would look like. I'm going to change the outdoor lights to a sleeker, simple rectangular black shape too.

Final questions:

1. The roof is a black, however parts of it look gray depending on the time of day. Is iron ore the right color for the trim?

2. Is Amazing Gray the right soft warm beige-gray that is not too trendy or dreary but kind of light and refreshing?

3. Would you paint the trim around the garage doors iron ore or keep it all consistent with the amazing gray, so it's all one color?

I would use the iron ore on the siding, and leave all the trim, just the way it is. Its the yellow paint on the siding, that looks off to me. Windows and trim, look fine. Also be aware that Amazing Gray is more beige than it is gray, and wont look good anywhere on your house.

Garage doors get Iron Ore. iron ore for all siding. Only other color will be for trim around windows. Can’t tell exactly what material that is. But might want a shade or two lighter then Iron Ore for that trim detail. I think it will transform and update your home in a beautiful way. I can look up a good tone to go with Iron Ore later today.

I don't understand why you can't paint them. Gray suggestions below look great

I chose this complimentary gray to use with SW Iron Ore, called Metropolitan. They both are in the yellow/green hue family and main difference is the LRV which is the Light Reflective Value or the amount of light absorbed or reflected. The higher the number the more light reflected. You will need samples to ensure the lighter Metropolitan works with your windows. I am assuming you can’t paint the window frames. I have posted the Scientific color details in my idea board.

I like the dark idea. Iron Ore is nice. BM Wrought Iron, SW Urbane Bronze, or here's one w/SW Peppercorn (ignore those shutters)

I lik how they did the black trim work around the white windows.

Landscaping will really add a lot. try to bring in some low ground plants w/a bit of color

I'm overwhelmed by the advice! Thank you, Beth, and Flo, and everyone! I love to see the pictures, and I know that takes time. :) The windows aren't paintable, bc they're some composite material that will be greater maintenance. Soaking it all in for my decisions.

Ideally, as my first choice, I'd be able to paint it a light color with dark windows but I can't...I chose the color to match the current trim, bc I never even considered changing the current creamy trim and siding color...live and learn.

I love brick & batten, but I can't justify using them. But, so happy for everyone that can and implement their beautiful ideas!

With your black roof, and brick colors I would stick with Iron Ore etc. The bronze tones will introduce new color hue. Keep to minimum of 3 colors. Plus roof. Your window sash is one, the soffit, gutters, trim and garage doors the Iron Ore and your trim around windows a lighter form of the gray notes. Add a couple big interesting pots for seasonal color beside your front door. It will look so good!!

I think maybe you meant to keep it to a Maximum of three colors. 😉

Unfortunately, my windows cannot be painted, so I have to keep them the yellow cream color.
