Do you have room to move the table away from the wall so you can hang artwork? If not, paint or wallpaper as suggested by @mytwo cents are options.

Have you considered a light fixture over the table?

For specific suggestions, add more photos of the adjoining spaces.

Design Fan - thank you. The chairs on the end are extra. The table is large and meant to be a 4 chair table and yes we can pull it out. The picture doesn’t show the space behind. Admittedly it’s tight.excuse my mess and husband.

Anthropologie has great tapestries, I think @lalagirl was the one who pointed them out in another thread. I have the desert cactus one, it's really lovely.

I like the large art or tapestry suggestions. The rest of your home is neutral so it should be fairly easy to choose something that goes well with your living room rug. There are several reasonably priced art websites like art.com.

Cindy, be sure to read the reviews carefully. The material is different and crinkly, like a thick paper. I like how the texture looks and feels but some shoppers were disappointed. It also seems like people are happier with the versions that come with the wood frames.

If I were you I’d check out Etsy. They have some great options for artwork and different wall hangings. This is one I just got for example.

I do like those better. I do have similar lighting in this space. It’s an open concept. Those are smaller than the ones in the kitchen area.

Turn the table with the short end in the "alcove".

If you have enough room in the "alcove" - add a narrow buffet with a modern mirror or colorful art and modern sconce lights on either side.

The biggest thing you need in that area is light. Could you put in a shallow buffet and a couple lamps? If so, they should be tall.

Mirrors might be helpful for this area, as they'd reflect light. Maybe a collection of small mirrors.

Can you post a picture of the space adjacent to the alcove? your kitchen appears to be quite large, is this alcove the only place for a table?
