Crazy? Installing Kitchen Sink in Bathroom Remodel

Is this crazy? I'm remodeling our bathroom so, a blank slate. I saw this and fell in love with the sink itself. I was considering installing in our Bathroom as a single sink vanity. Can you please share your concerns, suggestions, recommendations and warnings? I'll only use the main sink, not the extra sink accessories i.e. cutting board etc. Thank you. PS...

Why I wanted to use this?

  • I'm going from double to single sink.
  • I love the use of the sprayer for various reasons especially in the bathroom. So convenient.
  • I think the rainfall option is also sleek, and useful when washing kids hands, etc
  • The deep wide bowl is convenient in replacing 2 smaller sinks for the one Larger sink
  • Black is super sharp
  • I found this at a discount! 😎

I'm not a pofessional, but I think this sink will look very out of place in a bathroom. And that's coming from someone who has opted to take design risks. There are faucets that have a spray like a kitchen faucet. You may want to look at the bar sized faucets for something a bit smaller. Check out the Delta Trinsic . . . it comes in a bar size. I have this in my coffee bar and really like it.

Junk quality that won't last long is not where you want a virtually permanent commitment in cabinet and counter size. https://starcraftcustombuilders.com/sources.faucets.Black.Market.htm

I'm not understanding the piece on the right. Is it a tailpiece for the drain? There is an overflow on the right you'll have to deal with and hopefully you can make the tailpiece work out, but sure go ahead! Can kids operate that knob?

Doing oddball things can make your house harder to sell. I can imagine a house hunter saying, "What did he get this sink cheap or something?"

You can buy a larger bathroom sink.

You mention replacing two sinks a couple times. I don’t understand how this replicates the functionality of two sinks - you can’t have two people using it at the same time. I don’t think that total sink volume is a concern in the bathroom unless you’re doing a lot of hand washing? Counter space is more valuable that sink volume in a bath. All of this sounds like justification for getting a cheap price. But actual bathroom sinks can be super cheap. Move on, this is a bad idea.

By hand washing, I meant hand washing of clothes, not hands 🤓

I wouldnt want that sink in my bathroom. Not sure why you would go from two sinks to one. I would go back to having two sinks. If you ever sell, two sinks, would be a bit plus.

I like it and I say use it. Especially if you can undermount it. I think the colander would be good for toothbrushes and scrubbies.

I do not think this is great idea but it is your house . I hate those sinks even for a kitchen the parts are too small the black IMO with toothpaste and soap a bad choice if you have kids. I do not think 2 sinks are a must in a bathroom unless you have a huge vanity they waste space . I have been married for 60yrs not once have we had or needed 2 sinks in our bathroom. I have no idea what the rainfall option is and as for keeping scrubbies and toothbrushes stored there that is just yucky IMO. It scream kitchen sink.

I don't see the point in a large sink for the bathroom. Unless you have an exceptionally large vanity, it'll eat up most of your drawer storage ... for no real purpose. Washing your hands, brushing your teeth, etc. ... those are tasks that don't require a large sink. I'd rather have the storage.

I personally don't care for a black sink, but that's opinion.

I have a larger wall hung sink in my bathroom (keeping with 1920s theme). i like being able to fill water bottles easily and wash things in it as it is significantly larger than standard bathroom sink. my hesitation with this one is it screams kitchen. It’s relatively easy to replace bathroom vanities so if you love it i’d do it. i doubt a weird bathroom sink would affect resale… but i am with patricia on not understanding the 2 sink obsession in bathrooms.

I've only been married 33 years, but I have never needed or wanted duplicate bathroom sinks. I see duplicates as a pretty strong negative.

Probably would be better for a laundry room.

    Best for a kitchen though.

We can't see the vanity. We can't see the bathroom or the plan.

Your idea is not good, It looks like a kitchen sink, because it IS a kitchen sink. The last place on earth you want a black sink is a bath, unless you have a 24 hr maid.

If you want a large single? Get a trough bath sink. Up to you on a sprayer, but no need for downright UGLY. UGLY!

    PS.....

Hand wash what? A bath tub works for a bulky sweater, lingerie bags, the gentle cycle, ......for the rest.

I have a Kohler Kathryn console sink in my bathroom. It is HUGE! And deep enough to wash sweaters and the like. It does come as a drop in sink. What are the dimensions that you think you need? Depth as well as length/width. You can always use a kitchen sink with an integrated sprayer in your bathroom. I would go for a low profile, single handle one, though. But a kitchen sink with all the attendant extras appropriate for washing pots, pans, vegetables, etc.? NO.

omg, you people who hate double sinks. I've had to elbow my spouse for space to spit when only having one -- no thanks! live the way you live and let others do the same.

Apparently my husband and I are the only couple on Houzz that get ready at the same time of day? We both need to be at work early and get kids moving for the day, so yes, we do use the bathroom and our double vanity at the same time. Married 33 years (and still have kids at home).

    Lol yes @bcafe same!!

Yeah, I’ve never understood the vitriol for double vanity sinks on this forum. While growing up, watched my parents maneuver with one sink, in a small bathroom. Had to do the same during the first 45 years of my marriage.

We sold, and bought a different home in 2015, which we gutted. Enlarged the master bath, installing double sinks into an 8’ vanity. Heaven! DH no longer messes up the one sink with beard hairs, shaving cream and toothpaste. He has his. I have mine. Would never go back to sharing a bathroom sink.
