layout for corner fireplace in bedroom

last modified: 2 years ago

Hello!

We have a cozy corner fireplace in our bedroom and I would like to place either 1 or 2 reading chairs near it but am playing Tetris with the rest of my furniture pieces.
Where is the best place for this?

ideas:

  • tuck a chair directly next to the fireplace
  • low back chairs or low back cushion bench at foot of bed
  • chairs or cushion bench on empty wall (issue with this is it would obstruct the walkway to bathroom; clutter room?

The rocking chair is not staying, but my husband and I stripped and stained the bedroom set so they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon :)
The highboy, however, is giving me the most trouble and would be willing to part ways!

Thank you!!

You have to draw and MEASURE the entire room. All the walls, windows doors, passages and where they lead. Feet and inches please, boldly. Legibly. Upload below in a comment as a jpeg,

Thank you Jan and Patricia! I uploaded the measurements and drawing of the room in the original post above. I also included the furniture pieces that I need to work around. Let me know your thoughts!

Is that a walk-in closet? Could you fit the highboy in there? Agree to paint the register. I might slightly declutter your mantel, the top of the highboy, remove some bed pillows. I love your wall color. I would think about painting the mantel almost the same color as the fireplace tile; the white looks too stark to me. I think if you can move the highboy, or move it along, it would be nice to have two small scale swivel chairs by the fireplace. I'd look for some artwork you love to enliven the room. I think you also need a good reading lamp for those chairs.

    NO Highboy

Lighten up those walls! , de clutter the mantel......do you have want tv? Etc.

Don't over crowd with brown.....One or two chairs is up to you. A less bulky look would allow two, share ans ottoman you can put a tray on for wine or coffee

If you move the highboy to the wall between the doors, there is room for two chairs, one on each side of fp.

There isn't if you are keeping a dresser, and the highboy! OP isn't attached to the highboy, a bulkier less attractive proportion by far. . She HAS room for two chairs, and the dresser which must remain.

We might suggest moving the highboy to the one wall with nothing on it, then you should be able to flank the fireplace with one or two chairs. We also might suggest getting a floor lamp or two depending on your needs.
