Our closest child is 4 hours away in South Carolina. We have two in different areas of Ohio, one in Michigan and one in Phoenix. It’s tough to get to see them and it seems they are too busy to get to visit.

Annie, I am with you on the wine. I enjoy a nice glass witb my dinner. Here where we live now, there are wine trails. We have only been to one winery so far but it’s a great one. Next year, we will hit the trails.

Weather hasn’t been too bad here. We are actually in a bit of a drought. I have actually been watering so I don’t lose the perennials I brought here with us.

I received my lovely card from Nicole yesterday. Sorry not to have posted then. The last 4 weeks or so have been so busy. Some days I just feel like I'm spinning my wheels. She included some recipes and a scratch off ticket - had never had one before so what a surprise. No, I didn't win.

(Update: Oh my I forgot to mention that Nicole also sent me 3 packets of seeds. Thanks again. What you wrote in the card is so appreciated and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!)

Beth, I noticed you mentioned having flooring work done. They are installing new floors in two of my downstairs rooms today. I had water damage between the kitchen and garage earlier in the year and that caused the tile in the kitchen to be removed so the underneath could be dried out. And from when I bought the house, there was this nasty gray carpet in the family room that was so worn out. Both will now be a light gray shade of vinyl plank. I think I'm going to love it!

What kind of flooring did you decide on? Still more work to be done in relation to the water leak, but this much new is looking good to me. Haven't had new flooring in a house that I lived in for many years. I wasn't sure I wanted to get rid of carpeting in the family room, but I think this will be much easier to keep clean - especially with the two pets I have and I'm always tracking in dirt and leaves since I go in and out of the house so much to walk the dog, get the mail, etc.

I suspect I will be back to post before Thanksgiving, but if not - wishing everyone a safe and happy day. I love all the foods involved with Thanksgiving so looking forward to it a lot. We all have a lot to be thankful for. Great theme for this month, Ruth!

Annie, yay to Barry. He just always does a great concert despite his age. I am going with a friend to Vegas in March and want to convince her we have to see him again.

Received Annie’s card today. She sent me a recipe for Red Lebtil Chicken soup and I am looking forward to trying it. I love soup and I even had pea soup tonight for dinner. Thank you Annie.

Oh, and I am thankful for Amazon as it helped me finish up my two oldest grandchildren tonight. We live at least an hour from anything other than a Walmart and they did not have what they wanted.

Prep work for the new siding is moving along in spite of the first rain in months. Flooring is done and I love it, Celebrated by buying new broom, dust pan and dust mop. I adore the new dog ( still officially a pup) but he is a big hair ball, weighs about 80 pounds and still wants to lay in my lap! I'll try to get Kate to do a pic or two. My camera will not work with this computer. Busy week ahead with big dinners planned with family and at Church. Simplified for me as I volunteered to do sweet potato casserole for all three.

And what am I thankful for tonight...HHHMMM.....to many things!...BUT....

I just go out of the shower....I am thankful for a lovely, hot shower...I suppose I take it for granted because I can have a shower whenever.....well, this was a damn nice shower. I have to go do the dreaded pack job, so a glass or two of vino and a shower certainly helps. Leaving tomorrow for my sisters until next Monday or Tuesday......

OH, I need to cook as well....better get moving!

I hope everyone had a good day. I had dinner with my daughter's family (the one in NC) and everything was delicious. Thanksgiving foods are definitely some of my favorites. After that I watched the Thanksgiving Parade (which I recorded) and a Christmas movie so a really nice day. We even had sunshine. Still getting pretty cold at night though.

So sorry you and your family have been sick, Ruth. Hope everyone gets totally well soon. I have been in the mood to go shopping in the stores, but think it will be too crowded so I'm doing some housecleaning. Certainly badly needed with all the work that has been going on with the flooring, etc. So far I love these new floors. (My plan is to go to the stores Mon. morning when people are back to work and maybe all shopped out by then.)

Loose leaf pickup is Monday so at some point I need to go out and rake. The sun is deceiving today - looks beautiful when you glance out the window, but much chillier than it has been.

I only do free shipping which several sport stores had along with great discounts. The boys do a lot of working out so that helps. If anyone has young women our young girls to do, Puravida has great deals right now and their bracelets are popular.

We have a beautiful sunny day going here. We did have our first freeze Sunday night, but it was for a short period and didn't kill all my plants. I didn't feel up to covering or bringing in anything. I still have plenty of flowers blooming and picked a handful of late green beans yesterday. Tatsoi is looking great and needs to be cut today. Turnip greens got planted late and are still tiny. I don't know if they will have time to get big enough before being frozen. I'm hoping to at least get enough for the holidays.
