Hi! I need help with dining room furniture. We are keeping our table. We will be getting shutters for the small window. Room is 14 x 20

Sorry but can't even see the table. Please post some better pictures

You should definitely consider sideboards or bar carts to highlight decorations/fill the space a bit. They could sit flush across from the windows letting light into the room. Might also want to consider a large pretty rug as a nice centerpiece that also doesn't take away walking space. You've got an awesome amount of room

A lot of space but awkward space. This was our living room, but we just did an addition to add a great room space

What are you trying to use that space for? More leisure activities or for excess kitchen space (like countertops) @Lindsay? It'd be pretty easy to add furniture to that space to make it more functional and visually appealing based on that

Love the photoshop with the sideboard, faux tree and art.
As a dining room… I have 2 boys 7 and 10, so still stuff lying around. I would like to make it functional..

The table seems small for the room so if you are keeping it I would get a rug to fill some of the space.

I'd definitely consider storage (for school supplies, toys etc) - chaise sofa, sideboards (which could give you serving space in the room), cabinets, and wall units. You could even get creative with a coffee bar, desks, or cupboard. If you like plants - you could even try to design a nice wall full of small house plants :) Even if you fill the walking space, you'll need to consider the walls too since they have such strong presence.

Do you have a leaf, or two, for this table? I would add them if you have them. The space will look more proportional with a larger table.

I do have 2 leafs.. I will get a rug do I get a rug to fit the regular table length or with leafs?

Do I get a buffet that is long for the underneath the short window?? Can you give me examples?

Here’s a mock-up showing two 55” sideboards. I’d definitely get a rug sized for the table with both leaves in place.

Definitely get a rug to fit the leafs and long enough to fit underneath chairs when they're pulled out. Don't want the chair to feel uneven if front legs are on the rug and back legs on the floor.

Looks like you could do a short buffet, but might be congested when the person sitting on that end pushes back. Could do a nice accent wall there too like this link

I got this rug yesterday… I love the color. But is it too small??

Hi, I would suggest a sideboard you have enough space for it and it's also great for taking care of the clutter. You can put a nice art piece or a mirror above it. The rug is not too small for the table size but the room is quite large so both the table and rug look small in this space. I know you said you are keeping the table but I would suggest getting a longer one and a large chandelier that will fill up this space nicely. Getting some large plants for the corner space will also look really nice.

Where would you put the side board? I put one leaf in… this is a 8x10 rug.
If I put both leafs in I would not have room for a sideboard underneath the window.

Where would you put the side board?

It looks as if the table should be turned 90 degrees to match the orientation of the rug, which will clear up room for the sideboard under the short window.

This is what is would look like with a longer rug. Without and without one leaf

I put both leaves in. Should I keep the leaves in and get a larger rug? Or keep the shorter table and keep the rug?

It’s a large room. I love the look of the expanded table and the larger rug.

So I added a piece from another room and a faux fiddle tree…. What do you think of the length of this piece and the tree?
