Our door is white on the back, not matching our hardware floors.

What does the door look like? Will it accept the stain the same way and look the same as your floors? Is the wood the same?

With the light entry floor matching stain will look good, imo. White would br ok, also. Your choice. I don't think you can leave it.

You can see the door in the last picture, to the right of the photo. It’s made of oak, same as our stair railing that we stain matched to the floors.

The door is your issue, take a good picture of it and the surrounding area which should include the floor.

Sure it can match the floor. You could also extend the exterior color to the interior (presuming it’s painted on the exterior) You can’t leave it the current orange oak color obviously!

What I’ve done so far

Now the question is, do we match the trim around the door to this stain? Or do we use white trim like we have in the rest of the house? I’m thinking if the trim matches the stain, the door will appear bigger….? Thoughts?

To me it looks like an unfinished remodel when one part of a room has one trim color and another is different.

Here’s the final result! What do you all think? I used several different stains and used a paint like application to blend and add dimension. Please excuse the painters tape!

Looks the same as two years ago. That's not a bad thing.
