Primary Bedroom Advice

last year

Hi there! My husband and I have finally settled in our new home. We love everything about our primary bedroom but are at a loss on what to do with our green wall. Artwork? Wainscoting? Wall molding? I’d love to hear some suggestions. Thank you in advance!!

No to wainscoting and no to molding. You just need a piece of art above your bed.

Paint the entire room the same green . Buy a headboard toned to the curtains,

Add a quilt and a couple shams to the white bedding, toned to the paint, and give the bedding a kick in the pants, add some art

Yes, the whole room needs to be the green. Then add a headboard and artwork and you will feel like you are in a cocoon. The color you chose is gorgeous- but using it on one wall loses the effect.

Love the suggestions!! So grateful for the input. Funny enough, my husband was weary of even having a green wall so I’ll have to push him toward an all green room 😉 Maybe I’ll paint it when he’s at work 😂

I appreciate the bedding suggestion. I’ve left it all white as I was afraid adding green would make it too matchy matchy but I’ll definitely be on the hunt for some nice quilts and pillow covers. Thank you to the person who linked the IKEA duvet cover.

I’ve been wanting a headboard but am unsure if I can add one to the bed. I have a Thuma bed frame and I believe you can only use their headboards - which I’m not a fan of. Not positive though.

Agree with celery. Some sort of textured or upholstered headboard would be beautiful with some art over the bed.

I also love the idea of getting a velvet headboard in the same color as your wall, like this only with your colors:

I love these rooms even though I don't usually like accent walls. The art works make the whole difference.

These palettes on a horizontal abstract skycape would both lighten and add serenity to a green room.

You have the platform as below

Buy a headboard, bolt the headboard to the WALL....push the bed up against. It wont budge, easier to pull it away for spring cleaning behind and beneath. Do I allllll the time.

Love the green! In my last home we made a headboard with plywood, foam, muslin, and an unused quilt that was the right color. We stapled the muslin and quilt around the back of the wood and then used a large French cleat to hang it on the wall. It cost maybe a couple hundred dollars total and I loved it. We’ve recently moved into our newly built home and I was planning on getting a Thuma bed frame as well. I don’t think the headboards they have are tall enough for my room, so I plan on building another headboard like our last one and letting it drop to the top of the bed frame where their headboard options would sit.

Sorry I do not understand the question if you do not like it paint it , you do need a headboard for sure. I see nothing in the space that connects to the green so maybe I missed something . Get your new bedding then come back and we can help with colors .

Wow I love the green, I would potentially paint the whole room green, agree on getting a headboard something textured in earthy tones would look nice in my opinion. I would also add an art piece above the bed, something with earthy tones and a wooden frame would look good on that green wall.

@M Grove you mentioned paneling. I like the way this room uses two kinds of paneling to create strong vertical emphasis for a sense of height and drama while it frames the bed. What do you think?

Some sort of headboard and wall art could work really well in your bedroom. The green color could easily be accented with some gold. We might suggest at looking at art or 3D artwork to find something that really calls to your soul. See this bedroom design of ours for an idea on interesting art:
