Painting wall and tv/bookcase and trim

last year

Thinking all same color, green. Thoughts?

The green looks nice with your sofa and chair. What color was the window trim before (I think this is just a mock-up)? If trim was wood, I'd like to see how it looks with the window trim natural wood.

Yes, it is natural wood currently.

    What is your question?

  • last year

Thoughts on painting wall, trim, windows and tv/bookcase green?

Can you do a mock up leaving the window trim as it is? I think a little wood tone left in the room might look nice.

    Yes, thank uou.

    Thank you.

I like the look you have, rather than the look, you think you want. I would leave the wood.

Thank you!… would you leave the gold walls or paint them the darker green?

That green color is gorgeous. It looks so chic with your leather and zebra rug. Do you have that wood in other rooms in your house? I think it would look great with the green on walls and ceiling, and leave the wood color. I also think it would be beautiful to do the trim and bookcase in the green with a glossy sheen, and walls and ceiling the same color in an eggshell or matte.

Or here's a pretty room and they left the ceiling white. This designer does beautiful colors and layers.

We would leave the ceiling as is. The other rooms in the house have white molding. This den is a step down from main floor… has dark onyx hardwood floor. It’s a cozy room with lots of natural light so could handle a dark green wall. What if we left wood trim as is and painted walls flat green and bookcase/tv cabinet a semi-gloss or satin dark green like wall color?

I think that could be really pretty and cozy. So all the white would be painted green, correct? (Except ceiling.) Since this is its own contained room, you don't need to have any white trim even though other rooms do.

The trim out in a home needs to match or it looks hodge podge sans maybe the built in. You will lose a ton of money on this plan--first in paint, second in resale but if you love love love it do it your way and enjoy!

Arcy, what do you mean by that? That since she has white in other rooms that it needs to be white in here?

  • last year

There is no white woodwork in den currently, just crown.

I'd leave the wood as is and paint the crown and walls the green (more sheen on the crown). It's a lovely cosy room.

I’d paint the trim. I love the color drench look, prefer the simpler, more sophisticated vibe (particularly with busier rug) and think the wood pulls orange from your leather furniture.

The safe answer is to leave the trim wood, for resale. But the whole color drenched, moody look can be fantastic! The room looks apart from the main area, so I would paint everything, even the ceiling. Just an opinion..

Check out this room by Emily Henderson - Its dark, all- over blue and dramatic.

I really like all the different lighting you have!!

Thank you. Think we may paint walls the BM Mediterranian Olive, leave woodwork and bookcase. Not sure I can convince painting crown green. Molding around windows and frame will be upgraded, stained. It is a cozy den, we enjoy it.

Here are few shots of current gold v green walls. Preference?
