A few good coats of a waterproofer, like poly, waterguards, ect. Just make sure it's clear and not colored.

Do they make this in a spray or do you recommend a brand that has it in a spray? Reason being is the urn comes chipped aesthetically, I feel if we paint it the paint will chip.

Yes, poly and weatherproofers come in spray. If you have loose chipped bits, that would need to be cleaned up or smoothed out before spraying. If it's just for looks and the chips/wears are smooth, then you can proceed with spraying.

Make sure that you follow the directions on the spray can.

Just make sure it’s fully covered, not exposed to rain or direct sun, and placed in a dry, well-ventilated area. Occasional humidity is fine, but avoid standing water and long-term UV exposure to keep it in good condition.

Wood and outside is not a good combination. Wood expands and contracts and if you put something waterproof on the wood it might not be able to expand and contract.

A stone top would be a better solution.
