Any rug experts out there? I'd love to have some info on THIS rug.

Today, my husband brought home an Oriental hand knotted rug. No background info is available on it. The size is 6'3" X 9' . It does have some intense pink accents in it, making me think it has some age to it. It's in almost pristine condition! Only one little flea bite, a 4" section on the very edge, towards the back, needs the finished edge rewrapped...and I can fix that.It's a very high knot count, 100% wool with cotton warp.

A) What region is it from?

B) Age?

C) Pattern?

Photo was taken from above. The colors are actually very bright and clear. No fading.

It's late in the day, there's no sun light left to photograph it.

That rug is not "exactly" like yours.......similar design. But the rug pictured is new and made by a pattern in a sort of factory where there arfe workers knotting rugs....not the old method where rugs were made every one slightly different. But I do believe your rug is a Moud type.....but a semi antique and even with damage worth more than a "new" rug.

It has a low nap.

The pink used in a flower motif.

@elcieg...Thank you! I don't suspect it's silk or even a blend, it's not that soft...but it is a very tightly knotted rug. NICE!!!

Silk will increase the value of a rug tremendously. The value is highly dependent on the number of knots/square inch. You can see this on the reverse of the rug.

So .....is it a Moud? Herati Garden pattern? ??? Considered a Persian rug?

Maybe 1970's?

Made in Iran? Moud?

*Greeat find......I have a house full of oriental rugs and have given s couple to my kids.

I don't know what "tribe" your rug came from....I can olny say it would be classified as semi antique likely made in the 1950's or before* A silk rug would have a VERY high know count and as that is an arab design, would be smaller.

My guess is that it's a Tabriz.

I contacted a local rug dealer the other day. He's online only. I sent him two photos, front & back with a ruler to show the knot count. He confirmed it's a Persian Moud. He does informational videos. See link below.
