What can I do with window treatments here? homey design

last year

What can we possibly do here to make it look/feel more homey. Definitely don’t like those hanging blinds for the slide door, is there a curtain situation we should be considering? Blinds?

Your slider and windows are so similar to those in my daughter’s house … we installed curtains on her slider and thick, lined bamboo blinds on the window nearby.

The slider drapes are wide enough (two panels) that when closed, hang very nicely. If you skimp on them, it’ll look like a sheet pulled across. You have plenty of room for stacking them when open. She sometimes pulls them both to one side, sometimes pulls one to each side.

    We ordered them from Amaz.on.

The bamboo blind is one very wide one. If you don’t like woven blinds, Roman shades or a roller shade would work well, too.

There are certainly other possibilities if you don’t like those ideas.

Are there any other windows in these rooms?

So a curtain rod just for the sliding door correct? And no curtains for the windows?
    No, no other windows here….
Can you share the Amazon link?

    Yes, correct, that’s one idea.

    Here are the curtains:

We got two of them, each 100”x84” (but I don’t know if your sliders are exactly the same size), and with grommets so they’d be easier to slide (they are). We’re both very impressed with the quality of the curtains — they’re heavy and well made. They do need to be ironed, as they get wrinkled in the bag they come in.

She found her woven blind second-hand, but lots of places sell them. If you have kids, cordless would be good.

We bought the rod for the slider curtains at Lowe’s — be sure to get something heavy duty if you decide to go this route.

ETA: I can’t get over how similar your room looks to hers, including the ceiling height, distance between the window and slider, window style, and flooring. Her house was built in 1967.

We bought our 1957 house in 2018 and have been remodeling it since, it’s come a long way! Def hard to work with the layout and design.
