Any ideas?

Maybe a disease of some sort? A virus or blight? Maybe since they were overwintered there is cold damage? Thermal shock? If you use herbicides, maybe that's having an impact?

Contact your local extension service, if the potatos are getting worse over time. If not, it might just be tubers not in great shape producing sprouts not in great shape. That will be solved when the plants make new roots.

Yellow leaves in potatoes are often just the sign of some nutrient deficiency. You might just apply some broad-spectrum fertilizer and see if things get better in a few weeks.

Maybe but some turned black shortly after, not enough time to tell if others will.

What's the whitish stuff? Is it residue from watering/fert, as in something you put there... or is it something forming of it's own accord on the leaves?

White is fungacide from a few days ago. These pics are very informative. These leaves had issues starting in the middle and working in to make the leaf look like an hourglass. Also this is happening on almost all my potatoes all over my garden not just one area.

Correction to earlier post they turn yellow then brown then black.

A few days ago? Did you apply it right after the first photos? What did you use?

I have used immunox once and Dancolie once, about 10 days apart. That has nothing to do with the issue, it made no difference.

Exactly what chemicals/ fertilizers have you been using on and around the garden? It's like something affected them for a short time, then they grew okay afterwards. Fertilizers, additives, fungicides, insecticides? Weed killers in the area? You had many yellow sickly looking plants last year. You may be overdoing something.

Are the 'Yukon Gold' in the first pics basically volunteers from last year's plot? Potatoes like tomatoes can suffer a lot of disease problems, you need to rotate plots if you keep getting problems.

They are all yukon gold from last year. I never had my ptotatoes do this. I have lots of issues every year - always a struggle. I use a basic 10-10-20 fertilizer. I have sprayed sevin once and immunox once that is it. About 10 out of 15 plants have this and it starts with a few days of emerging. Sometimes nearby plants do not have any issues.

Everything from last year turned out fine. I have issues at the start the most.

I now remember I had some plants with crinkled leaves last year. They seemed to get over it.
