As mentioned in the discussion, I got the GE Profile Twin Flex, now three years old & have been delighted with it.

It cooks in various ways really well. It's changed my kitchen workflow for the better, such that now I'll look at a recipe & try to figure out if I can adapt it for the oven, or at least offload some of the cooking to the oven because it's easy, hands free, cooks great. I've yet to run into capacity problems (we feed extended family & entertain frequently). GE dropped the price last winter to $2900, maybe it will go on sale again. Cafe makes a version too.

To fill the top cavity, I had a shelf built & outlet added so a plug-in mw can go there. It's off the counter, & if it dies I can just plug in a new one.
