How can I improve the look of the 'shutter down' without expense

I am on a budget and have hung net curtains for privacy during the day, but at night when my shutter lowers, it looks like a closed store from the inside. I want to avoid the expense of curtains as they are not needed with the shutter blocking the light. Bit it looks terrible and want some advice on improving this image.

There are budget friendly options- thrift store sheets or shower curtain. You could put a hook above each corner and drape material from the hooks and let it swag in the top middle. Again from the thrift store you could put a small piece of furniture under the window and put plants or art on top. Our Habitat Restore store here sometimes has desks or office furniture for $5.

Try painting that wall a nice color..(even the little side walls?) having no curtains…that would leave room for a nice desk or chest for storage ..beneath the window..as well

I would add a thrift store table, desk, or dresser there. Add a thrift store oval bowl to collect your keys, wallet, trinkets. Plants may not get enough sun and are also need to be maintained.
