When in leaf, your plant should be moved outdoors whenever temps are above 42-45*F. This might mean you might need to move it outdoors when temps are above that range and back under cover when it gets colder. By now, you will have noticed it does not like indoor conditions.

When the plant defoliates in the fall, move it into an unheated garage, plant it (pot and all) in a garden or against the foundation on the N side of a building, or remove the pot and temporarily plant it. Ideally, it would like to be kept somewhere where root temps are above 25* and below 42*F. It WILL need watering, or throw some snow on it every now and then, about every 2-3 weeks depending on where it is over-wintered and weather conditions. As soon as it starts to leaf out, start giving it sun when temps allow (described above).

This plant is totally hardy. It is not a house plant and should be outside all year round in the ground. If it remains in the pot do as tapla says and put it under cover in a cold place for the winter. Do not bring it into the house.
