Window Blinds advice - French doors & adjacent windows

Hi! Would love some thoughts here on this dilemma I am having. We are going to do 2” faux wood blinds on all the windows (upstairs and downstairs). I had a moment of pause for the French door windows - if the same would be too bulky and cumbersome? Note that these are doors that are hardly ever used. I prefer a uniform & consistent look…but did have a moment of pause whether it would be Ok to do cellular for the French door windows. But will that look bad?

Struggle with the arch but think we will just opt for tinting the windows. These are west facing so get extreme sun/heat in the afternoons hence wanted the opacity of the faux wood blinds (& also to have some consistency either the rest of the house). But worth mentioning we do have both cellular & faux wood throughout the house.

You are going to lose light by using wood blinds on the windows. I'd leave the blinds off the french doors, but add UV Film to the doors and transom that can block UV and heat while still letting in light. The films really do work well.

Thank you @calidesign for your reply! We were thinking we wanted the blinds to block and don’t mind it being “dark” as it would really just be during the late afternoon hrs in the dead of summer.

But will look into the UV films - didn’t realize they work that well in blocking heat?

We have a large south facing window in our living room. If it didn't have a film on it, it would be unbearable. You especially need a film on the half circle window as it is difficult to dress those. If those are newer windows that already have a coating, then nevermind, but if they're plain glass you really need film. UV discolors wood and upholstery over time also. Get a film that only allows 20% transmission. It looks dark from the outside but doesn't inside. The contractor who did ours said people never choose a dark enough film. We have sheer cellular shades on our windows also. In peak sunlight we need those too. You could get something more opaque if you need privacy, and western sun can be pretty direct, too.

Thank you @kandrewspa for the reply! Super helpful with the 20% reco. Will make note of that!!! The windows are about 18-20yrs old…not sure if that qualifies for “newer”?

Do you (or anyone!) think cellular on the doors and faux wood on the side windows would look odd and not good?
