would love advice on rug for conservatory.

I need to replace the rug in this room along with most of the furniture. Everything in the room was left from the prior owner as it’s over 30+ yrs old and very faded from the sun. The current rug is 13x18. Should I replace with the same size or go with 2 rugs and break up the room? I’m not really good with how to arrange furniture so probably keep the same setup.

Since we have no idea of your furniture going in there how can we guess about a rug. Doe sit need to provide softness or just color? You need to control the sun in that space or whatever you put in there will fade For me a conservatory is all about plants and less about living space so I need info. I would have orange trees in there in a heart beat some nice outdoor faric sofas and no dining but I hve no context or info.

Wow your conservatory is gorgeous. Are you keeping the furniture?

I might consider two area rugs to create two space. One for conversation and the other for eating or board games. Or no rug. Your floors are lovely.

This one has no rug and focuses on plants to fill the space

    I love it!!

I’m not sure how I want to style furniture. I may need to hire someone for that then figure out the rug. The floors are cooled. The top windows do have retractable blinds and we usually keep them closed for obvious reasons. This is attached to our home so is open to the rest of the house by hallway. We use this room for reading and or kids for when they study or want quiet so I do love having a couch. Totally agree on outdoor fabrics as everything in here is faded. I like the rug for the warmth and color it brings to the room and I definitely need to go plant shopping!

    Thanks for your advice!

I like Chilewich for more like floor mats than rugs they are great becuse they do not fade and can be hosed of to clean. I have one by my doggie door outside that is 17 yrs old and still exactly the same as it was new.

Hire a designer who can help you create a space that will be seamless with the rest of your house. Maybe Sunbrella fabrics that can be used indoors and loads of fun plants all over.

Love the traditional look of the 3rd photo!

I would first hire someone to put UV film on the windows and ceiling... it must be a blast furnace to the rest of the house on some days. Whatever you put in there will be damaged in less than 2 years even the art.

Selecting floor covering that is more in keeping with the lightness of the greenhouse could be a possible direction. There are lots of floor coverings made from natural materials.

You might try looking at two separate rugs, to break up the conservatory a little bit. It looks like a great space. What design look are you going for? Notice the 2 rugs in this large room we just designed.
