How is it the middle of May already?? I am a little late with the spring cleaning I started this morning lol.

I don't have much to report ... still up a few lbs but sticking with it. I am determined to get them off and some more! The long sedentary hours the last 2 months havent done me any favors so it is time set things right! 5 days in NYC should help get me moving ... of course there will be many food temptations also. Hopefully I can enjoy myself but keep a healthy balance between food and activity!

I will be away next Sunday so GScience, would you mind starting the thread if you are available? No worries if not .. I am sure someone else will gladly start the thread!

So how are you all doing? It is getting warmer hope that is helping everyone to continue their great progress!

I'm on day 18 no alcohol, and I think the sleep is finally starting to be consistently better. I've finished two weeks of the Couch to 5K and that is going well, along with a lot of pickleball. So, lots of cardio. No resistance training unfortunately. Food is ok, not as good as I was doing, but pretty healthy. Pretty steady over here. no weight loss but I am less bloated through the stomach for sure, so that's something at least.

I am listening to a great book if anyone is interested. Good Energy Book. She's one of the founders of Levels, which is where I started my health journey with the CGM , so there's a lot familiar to me, but she sums it up well and it is very informative. She reads the audiobook and I think does a great job with it.

I'd love to talk more about it if anyone reads it.

Hi Lisa ... glad to see you updating again! Listen, I know it is harder to lose in our 50s/60s-- but I am banking on continued losses so I hope you see them too! In my case, I can't blame anything other than not trying hard enough. My losses are slow for sure but when I am consistent and focused, they do come off ... I haven't been either. :(

Legomom, you go! You are making super progress with your activities and couch to 5K! I need to take a page from your book ... my sleep is declining and I have been feeling so bloated. I need to tweak my food, I think ... and return to intermittent fasting (after my trip)!

I will check out Good Energy ... could use some fresh motivation!

Hi all. I received a rather rude shock when My Fitness Pal turned into a "Premium" i.e. paid subscription (I hadn't noticed the "trial" subscription portion. I don't install a lot of apps.) I have canceled...after a mandatory year. Oof.

Before my Florida trip, I had bought a pair of jeans that were too tight in the waist. I wore them yesterday and they were comfortable, with ample room. I haven't weighed myself this week because my goal has always been to feel comfortable with how my clothes fit me. I'm still eating way more fruits and veggies, which I reach for in a way that I never did before. I don't feel deprived or rigid but I am just aware that my diet needs to reflect my activity and metabolism, both of which have changed, if I also have a goal of wearing the same size comfortably.

One funny thing- I developed a mucousy cough in Jan. I saw a doc in mid-March who gave me prednisone and a rescue inhaler. I returned in April and he prescribed a different, stronger daily inhaler. I still had the cough and exercise intolerance. In early May, I had a tick bite and developed anaplasmosis. I was given antibiotics -- and my cough disappeared! I realized in Florida that I wasn't using the daily inhaler, was walking the beach with no problem and not coughing. The cough hasn't returned and my breathing difficulties are much improved. I think I had untreated bacterial bronchitis. I hated the inhaler which dispersed a powder into my mouth -- yuck. I'm hoping this helps with my daily walking, which I've restarted.

barncatz, they do have a free section if you just want to track your foods and use the message boards. I've had it for years (rarely use it now). I use it on the computer, not on an app, though.

Thanks, straitlover but it's too late, they caught me. If I had been paying attention when I downloaded, I would have noticed the "free" was a limited trial period for the app. They didn't warn me that the free period was expiring, so by the time I was "upgraded" to premium, I was already charged and on the hook. I spent several hours trying to figure out if I could get the charge reversed the day it happened. Nope.

I wish, like you, I had just gone to the website. I don't download many apps and should have been more careful.

I am back from our music festival last week. We walked about 12,000 steps per day, so that was a lot plus lots of standing about 9-10 hours of bands per day! We lathered up with the Neutragena 70 SPF and the mineral one for DH and got through without getting sunburnt. But overall a great time, and I’ve lost the water weight I gained from eating so many meals out. One of the food vendors had a Greek salad, so we had that every day for lunch pretty much. Drink options weren’t that great, so I had some White Claws. Easy to make healthy choices for breakfast at the hotel, too.

Yes, I can start the thread on Sunday, then I’m heading out Tuesday to Boston next week for my conference, and we’re seeing The Rolling Stones on Thursday while we are there. They are playing at Gillette stadium in Foxboro, and we have our commuter train tickets to get there and back. My conference always has healthy options, so I am not concerned about that. But I will look at the latest things for exercise training/obesity, older adults, and women. 😊

I did Pilates private session yesterday and am back to virtual Zumba at home. It’s nice to be able to workout in the mornings. I have Pilates group session Friday and then maybe I can get in another class before I head out. But there’s also going to be a lot of traffic on the weekend and Monday to get there. The studio is near work vs. home.

Oh yeah, I was in need of a pedicure after returning back. That really was the worst, that our feet hurt. We soaked them in Epsom salts on Monday. On Sunday for the shows I wore my Bombas compression socks with my skort so that helped, too. It turned out to be much hotter in Columbus than usual so I had to scrap what I planned to wear that day and go with the skort, which I’m glad I made a last minute decision to pack.

Enjoy your day, everyone! Gotta go get changed for Zumba.

    Thanks, GS!

Glad you had a great festival and were able to get in lots of steps and eat well. We considered seeing the Rolling Stones also this weekend in NJ ... in the end we opted not. We had plans that night (but nothing that couldnt be changed) but since navigating an arena at night is a huge challenge for me we opted to stay in the city. I may regret it but we arent at a loss for things to do.
