Need help picking tiles - out of my league

last year

Hello I really need help with kitchen (well everything but Ill start with kitchen :)). We have to choose floor tiles/backsplash for kitchen and paint cabinent /wall color and they have to go with the parquet already in the house and not clash with the bay windows (yes the finger parquet is ugly but its in good condition so we want to keep it but we will sand it down to make it clearer ) Our hallway is a beige marble so it should stay in a relaxed classic style (not modern). Ive tried putting in a 3d program so it is at scale then changing the cabinet color and kitchen floor color for ideas but Im not sure if its good or not (the furniture in the program doesnt reflect the mess I have ) . Maybe a fake ciment style is good for the floor, if so which one, which transition lol Im lost? I just know I need something that tones down the yellow in the parquet but is not dark colored because we need lighter colors due to the lighting / area. We plan on painting all the walls a white or cream depending on what looks best with everything (not stark white but something again that tones down yellows especially in the hallway) I wanted to do a marble tile to match the hallway but its not possible as the thinnest marble is 10mm and we need a 6mm so now I dont know what to do :/ Then it also needs a transition from the finger parquet to whatever tile.

The overall style we are looking to do I guess would be what you would call country/modern rustic french (think old french classic Louis XV meets new french country in a weird but functional way, - very classic furniture mixed with antique country but nothing to heavy)? The house has a granite façade so its a bit hard.

Dont mind the poles, the stone guys just opened up the room so it has to take some time for the beam to set

Thank you in advance for any ideas, I am in france but maybe the tile I can find a close version here

The parquet is a true golden yellow. You'd not choose that today. For me, that reality means it goes. If 'it's not in budget' the project waits until it is. Engineered European Oak planks would be a current choice.

Thank you for the insight, unfortunately its not a question of budget or not to an extent (when I say that of course its not a 100000 budget but its not 0 either), its due to technical limitations of the house. There is a 6mm space for tiles or wood which is not a size thats made now for parquet which is part of the reason we have to stay with it. Due to the size of the house 200m2 we cant rip out the support base as its 30cm of concrete so its a work with what we can and try to make it updated a bit without exploding the house . I understand about the multiple materials, as its a 1970s house which means its maximalist in style which we are already dealing with. Below is a sampling of just the first floor . I cant really do wood (even wood tiles) in the kitchen because it would be overpowering, so I thought a fake cement tile thing to try and tie the yellow/orange of the parquet to the marble crema marfil in the hallway, or just go with a cream colored uni that we could also use in the bathrooms and the upper hallways. You can see the staircase has a golden hue which we like to keep

Sounds like you want the grey cement so your decision is made! Enjoy your renovation and don’t second guess yourself.

I'd look at large scale slate porcelain tiles with minimal color variation.

I was also going to mention being wary of color variation. Sometimes it's hard to tell from online or tear sheet photos what an installation will actually look like. This post (link) shows some real life pictures of tile variations that surprised me; hope it helps.

thank you yes Im going to try several tiles, we are talking with the marble place to get samples and maybe they can match the hallway. While not ideal, marble at least will last (Im just worried it will turn into a beige bandaid but we will see)! We are also going to look at ceramic light colored and then the type with a print.
