Exterior Paint Colors for Red Roof Home

last year
last modified: last year

Attached are photos of lakehouse in Texas.

Keeping the red roof for now.

Wanting to lighten and brighten the home!

I like the look of spanish/mediteranean that are light tan (no yellow tones).

Questions:

1) This home is part brick and part stucco - should I keep it 2 tones or all one color? I was thinking making all one color.

2) Railing and fencing and gates are a light green color - was thinking of painting all of those dark bronze.

3) Front/Side facing garage doors - dark bronze?

Thank you for all ideas!!!

If the roof tiles are concrete they can be stained a different color.

    @beverlyFLADeziner
    They are metal shingles
I wish they were something else!
I am trying to decide on paint color that won’t be too stark white but appropriate for the house. Also wondering if people have suggestions on painting the brick and stucco the same color or leaving it 2 tone.
Thinking j like BM Classic Gray

Has that brick already been painted? It appears to have been. I love gray, but, that seems a bit gloomy for your house, especially , since its a lake house. I know you dont want yellow, but, but, I think, a white that leans to a cream, would be a perfect color, and would brighten the house up a lot. Then add some potted plants, with colored pots, etc. The color it is now, is a bit on the gloomy side. Maybe take a look at SW Alabaster. Its a white, that looks a bit cream. SW Creamy is beautiful, but, maybe more yellow than you are wanting.

I would not paint the garage doors dark, as in Bronze, they will look like a black hole.

BM Silver Sage, everything. trim stucco, fence and garage doors all the same for a clean fresh finish, nice contrast to the red roof.

BM Silver Sage everything, stucco, trim, fenching, garage doors for a clean fresh look with red roof contrast and dark windows. breaking up the nice expanse with bronze garage doors will make it look like a black hole.

Thank you. I wondered that about painting the garage doors dark, I think I agree that they should just blend in!

Oh you have a lovely home. Embrace the red roof. I think your instinct is spot on. I too would go a bit lighter on all the brick and garage doors and trim. I would go as white as I could.

    Something like this.

This white is stillworking with the more beige pool tiles.. You have more beige but the right white could really work with your pool and roof.

I love that they painted the trim a soft green gray color...

Of course the black they have helps this

But notice the white still looks nice with the beige driveway similar to your pool

Okay one more... Can't help myself. I am loving the orange red roof and the white houses.

This one has the garage painted brown along with all the trim. This too is an option

@boxerpal thank you for all of this great inspiration!
Do you think ONE tone and get ride of the 2 tones between stucco and brick?
I don’t hate the dark garage doors in that last pic!
The trick is finding a light enough color that isn’t too stark white.
I will look at SW Alabaster
and BM Classic Gray might read lighter than we think

Yes, finding the right white will be key.

My vote for you house is Alabaster SW. It is a warm bright white that will work with the red roof. And I say keep the light green railing. It looks like a green gray color. If it needs to be painted maybe go slightly more gray like the gray color in the slats of the walkway. But it needs to be a gray or greige that would work with your slightly tan hardscape.

I know this roof is not red.. Try to imagine. But see how nicely this warm white works with the brown door.

What about the brown door on the right? Are you keeping it or repainting that to a white on white theme. If you keeo it, I think the warm Alabaster will look nice with it.

@Boxerpal thank you for weighing in! The Alabaster sample was just too stark white. Then, we had Classic Gray and Balboa Mist put up as samples. What do you think about any of these photos?

    Thanks!

    wow

I am loving them both. The classic gray looks elegant. The Balboa Mist is a favorite of mine now, which do you like? Are you painting the garage door too? I remember you said you were painting the railing. I think it is going to look gorgeous.

Originally, I wanted to go white so I think the classic gray lanes more white but Balboa mist seems safer and more comfortable. I need to make a decision today! Yes, I am painting the garage either the same color or an accent brown color.

Go with Balboa Mist. It is one of those perfect colors that works with your roof. It will not be to white. You have had tan so long it's hard to visualize how great it will be.

    S BALBOA MIST TOO LIGHT?

Balboa Mist is a light gray but it is not too light. It has a LRV (light reflectance value) of 67.37. By contrast, most white paint colors have LRVs between 80-95.

Thank you so much for your thought! I wish I could see actual color of Balboa mist with a red roof. I’m not sure it is as creamy as those others. But I think it will be fine. Lots of good reviews about it. I have a hard time making decisions and it’s like one is too white but then once I find one that’s a little more gray is it too gray. I just have to decide and be brave!
