Is there a standard relationship between a bathroom sink and faucet?

During a recent bathroom remodel, I had a new countertop with an undermount sink installed. The installer looked at the wall-mounted faucet I had ordered (but not yet installed) and decided to locate the sink 7 inches away from the front edge and 2.25 inches from the back wall. The installed faucet projects 7 inches from the wall--or almost 5 inches over the sink. As a result, whenever I wash my face, water from my hands drips all over the faucet.

I think the sink was installed much too far back in the countertop. Is there a standard location for this?

Is there a standard length for wall-mounted faucets, or can I find a shorter one?

The standard is for the faucet stream to hit the waste hole, which yours almost does.

It's the height of the vanity that is your culprit in wetting it down. Shorter people need shorter vanities, if they are going to try to use it to wash their faces in the sink. The angle of the elbows when bent at the sink dictates whether the water goes down the arms into the sink, or up the arms and all over the sink top.

Thanks. I'm almost 5'7", so I don't think it's the height of the vanity. But when I lean over the sink, the faucet is directly below my face. Maybe the faucet is set too low? We didn't want to drill into the mirror just above the faucet. Now I want to watch videos of people washing their faces! Maybe I don't have the right technique??

An angled faucet would direct water to the drain. And a larger sink would help.
