One thing we added on ours was a motion-sensor light at the peak. Very helpful when driving up at night.

Maybe something like this. It looks like your house will possibly be black? If so, the finish of this fixture could look great against a dark or black background. If you are in fact having a dark or black exterior, I would be hesitant to install black light fixtures. I'm sure there are less expensive fixtures out there somewhere that are similar to this:

For Modern Farmhouse, you can always use gooseneck barn lights

Follow Dark Sky principles for any outdoor lighting which means only lighting the areas that need illumination and minimizing light pollution. Lights should never point upwards or outwards as suggested in earlier comments. If you don't want to install downlights above the garage, then sconces adjacent to the garage doors might be the best solution. I like the Bradford sconce but don't know if it's "modern farmhouse"...but you get the idea. The barn lights shown above could also work if the bulb were fully shaded -- those aren't -- to avoid light spillage into the environment. No floodlights, of course.

The first three fixtures shown just above are anti-Dark Sky as the exposed bulbs shine outwards and onto the wall where no illumination is needed, and cause glare as well.
