High end builder installing Reliabilt and Jeld Wen?

I was watching a Matt Risinger video who was getting detail tips from one of his friends and owner of Dimora homes Scott True, and they talked about why Scott was using "sub par" budget windows at 14:44.. video

I was surprised to see Reliabilt and Jeld Wen's instead of schuco's, but Scott says that "the modeling" showed in this example it didn't make sense to upgrade..

Would tell me all I need to know about Dimora Homes. Schuco is not necessarily a normal residential product. It is a specialized product that comes at a high cost, typically used on more modern houses and or commercially. There are many much better quality products than Reliabilt and Jeldwen (both bottom end products for sure).

Guessing the "model" in this case pertains to the warranty time frame that the builder has to honor...i.e. one year in many cases.

Scott was referring to the 'energy modeling' he performed for the house. The comment about honoring the builder warranty for just a year, so can get away with lower end windows, doesn't hold water here.... as this is his personal house he is building. Scott is one of those 'building science' type of builder, where everything has a calculated purpose.

Dollars is the calculated purpose here. Either out of his pocket or in. No other reason to use either of those two brands. Neither are good performers.
