Any color suggestions for my 80’s contemporary?

last year

Hi, just bought this 80’s contemporary house and I’m looking for suggestions on a new color and trim. I’ve seen a lot of darker colors on similar homes online, but my home faces south so I’d be concerned with fading. I greatly appreciate any help!

Do black, but keep the red trim.

For fade resistance and sheen retention, consider using Sherwin-Williams Duration or Emerald. These are known for their durability and resistance to UV damage.

I liked all the natural wood before more than the dark afters. I would not do a dark color. Maybe an olive or warmish green. Blue would work well with your roof and windows.

I always lean to more organic, earthy colors for shed styles, but do really like this blue-gray I saved years ago on IG:

I love how it looks with plants and trees:

And just for fun, I like sharing this neat article about your style house:

These townhouses in the article have your colors … I really like the red trim:

I lived in one as a kid (it was new in the ’70s, I’m old). 😁 Iirc, it was light gray, or maybe leaned more taupe, when newly built. Every bedroom had sliding glass doors to enclosed mini-patios, which I thought was amazing. :)

Love the house. I'm going to go against the dark grain. I love other color. I'd go for a light yellow with white trim, robins egg blue doors. Or maybe a burnt orange with a russet or brown trim, red doors. Or the blue-green of pine with white trim and doors.

My go to color is sw black fox for a house like this. That said you may want a grey to since you have the grey roof? I would not worry about the dark paint fading- I painted my last house sw durations black fox with no issues in coastal Georgia

I honestly like the weathered gray feel of your current siding. If it were me I’d leave it and instead change the trim color to something in a similar hue for a monochromatic vibe.

I really like your current colors, the body and trim, but think some black accents, like a new door, bigger, more dramatic lights, bigger, more dramatic planters, etc would really finish it off.

I have Raccoon Fur siding on my house on the South facing wall and the East both seems to be looking the same after 3 years . I do think the barn roof throws off the contemporary style a bit but I would go dark it just suits those homes much better .

Thank you everyone, I appreciate the feedback! I am still undecided, but have several (10+) color combinations saved in Sherwin Williams' ColorSnap program.

Here's a brownish olive on a shed style house. It would look great with red trim.
