What's a good rug pattern for this wallpaper?

last modified: 11 months ago

It's for a powder room so I am open to all suggestions, no matter how out there.

No picture because the space isn't finished.

Navy vanity, white quartz top, floor tile is the same tan as the flowers in the wallpaper.

    Love the wallpaper!

Is a rug really necessary in a powder room? You are putting in a tile floor - let it shine! Please show us the finished product!

I feel like I need a little pizzaz on the floor to balance all the excitement on the walls.

Put the pizazz in the floor tile rather than a rug. A marble mosaic, like a brown and white basketweave would look beautiful. The wallpaper is so special that you don't want anything to compete with it.

The pizazz can be in choosing the right color faucet and the hardware on the vanity.

You're looking for a throw rug, not an area rug. Get the room built and then decide if you need one. They are not often used in powder rooms. Why would you need one?

My guess is this is a powder room REFRESH, and the floor is an existing beige tile that may run all through the house?

    Don't forget the hand towel

    soap of course either color!

If you feel a small rug is needed, how about a natural woven sisal in a diamond pattern? I believe that Dash and Albert makes a natural sisal diamond patterned rug that would look great in your space.

I never put a rug in a bathroom mainly for sanitary reasons a bath mat yes , In a powder room never . Love the wall paper let it be the star

Thank you to Jan and ptreckel for actually answering the question. I was trying to avoid the animal hide look but Jan's choice looks great with the wallpaper. Sisal is my fallback, I was hoping to find something a little different. I already have a lot of it in my house

If anyone else has rug suggestions, I'd love to hear them.

I think this Rejuvenation rug would be pretty. But I’m someone who likes mixing patterns. :)

I found a navy vanity just to use as an example for the mock-ups. The rug comes in blue or cream, either might work:

Woven would look nice, too, although I just saw that you’d prefer something different. I do like this scalloped one:

    Another:

Saw this picture using an Oriental style rug … not your blue paper, just showing mixing patterns:

And this one, which is wild because I have this exact rug in my hall bath:

Lots of possibilities, I’m just not sure of your budget and what decor styles you like.

It might be best to wait until everything else is done, then look for a rug you love.

    Hope you update! Fab wallpaper.

If you really need a rug in powder room, I too, like Jan’s ideas. And of course Jilly‘s ideas are great, and show just how many possibilities there are.

That is totally wild, Jilly! The fact that it’s the OP’s wallpaper PLUS your hall bath rug! Twilight Zone moment... :) And they really look fantastic together, too!

Thanks, Freedom! Mine’s on beige tile, too, like the OP has. :D

    Here are a couple more.

One below comes in a number of colors. Black could be the one, though.

I just saw your reply, Jilly. Totally wild. What are the odds ?

    Right? :D

Oooo, Freedom, love the blue animal print! It’s so fun:

I agree Jan’s looks great, too, as well as the black rug you posted.

I adore animal print anything. :)

Thank you for the great suggestions. Before I posted here I tried a search for a blue and tan animal print rug and did not have any luck. I love the one that freedom posted and also love the rejuvination rug that jilly posted. And Jan's classic choice.

I don't need a rug but do want to get out of my decorating comfort zone in this powder room and would love to add another pattern.

Thank you, Jilly! :) I tell you, when you are around - I come back to life! 🙌🙌🙌😃🙏🏼

I went over to the site, because I wasn't sure if that animal print was green or blue! At first glance I thought it was green. It says it is teal and taupe.

I love animal prints, too. I have to restrain myself. :)

I just discovered this fabric yesterday - it’s on Amazon! And I was thinking I really have to do something with this. A pillow or something. As I just went and found it in my cart and look at it now again, I’m thinking maybe I should just frame it and put it on the wall.

But then again with the size, it may come across better in a pillow.

You’re welcome, Lynn! That’s another ”wild one” that you were actually searching for a blue animal print rug! Read my reply to Jilly. I posted that before I saw your reply. The rug is teal and taupe. Perfect. :)

    The wallpaper is fabulous!! :)

That is such a sweet thing to say, thank you! ❤️

I love the peacocks on the paper, too. I kid you not, I just posted this pic/link on my discussion post yesterday.
