Stripped and waxed sounds kinda dirty...

I did for awhile in the early days after installing, but haven't in YEARS. The floor needs it badly. It's a blue and white checkerboard pattern. I use PineSol to mop it and don't rinse (my bad). As for waxing, as I said, not in years; and it's the bathroom floor which is a very small area. Just lazy I guess. I'll be waiting to see your before and after pics, maybe it will inspire me.

Here is an after. This will have a long runner on it, so I am hoping that this will hold up for a long time.

What products did you use? I remember my father doing it in the kitchen of our home which was built in 1954. I don't know if it was a common installation practice but the sheet vinyl actually ran up the side of the wall a few inches and functioned as a baseboard. He used diluted ammonia to strip the wax and would put a fan in the window blowing on exhaust - but it still smelled.

I used Zep stripper, sealant, and wax. It didn't smell too much.

There is one slightly uneven, foggy spot because there was one slightly wet spot left when I added the next layer of wax. It's only visible from certain angles but I know it's there and it bugs me. There will be a runner over it, luckily.

I remember my mother doing that when I was a child. She was ever so happy when the floor was replaced with whatever the newer material was that didn’ t require stripping, waxing and buffing.
