On the bulbs forum, you posted that you were hoping to see your Eremurus (Foxtail lily) bloom. Did it? The one I posted did not put up any flowers, but another one on my hillside gave me two. I’m curious if yours showed up.

They surely did, Sandy. I am pondering putting some more in as they do come with some challenges - namely, the space required for those long, spidery...roots? Because they lie just below the surface, like bearded iris, it does leave a lot of area where understorey planting is tricky because of root disturbance. I am thinking to put in another 5 and underplant with ground covering sedums At any rate, I have been growing anigozanthus, agave, opuntia, baileya to create a 'desert wash'. Dry gardens have become my latest obsession (ironically after the wettest winter on record!)

The first bunch or eremurus were frankly woeful - dessicated specimens with most of the roots snapped off. These were hopeless,but I bought another lot from a different supplier and had much better results.

That’s good! I’m glad they did well for you. You must have found their happy spot. I’ve also thought about planting a bigger grouping of Eremurus, but like you said, placement is difficult.

I didn’t know you could grow all those things where you are. I’m familiar with Agave but had to look up the others. I recognize their common names such as Kangaroo Paws, Prickly Pear, Desert Marigold. Those along with the Eremurus will make a most interesting space. I hope you will be able to show us how it turns out.

We will be patiently waiting. Okay, we'll probably be IMpatient, but we will still wait lol. Looking forward to finally seeing some of your garden! (and your kitchen lol)

I really hope I can finally come through with some photos!..including the kitchen (which needs mopping every day). Makes me smile though.

I am pushing my luck a bit, SandyS. I will overwinter the small plants, ready for outside planting next spring. The opuntia and agapanthus are already in the ground so hey ho...
