Living Room Furniture Layout CRISIS-Help me, pretty please!

I am begging someone who isn’t suffering with postpartum brain to please help with current living room layout! Photos are of current layout (excuse the baby gear that has taken over-bonus points if you have any ideas for incorporating baby play area into layout). I know this could not only look better but also function/flow better-however, I am STUCK and rub two brain cells together to create any alternatives/solutions. Pretty please will someone help a girl out?

We need a detailed floor plan of the room. Dimensions of everything.

Off hand, I suggest that you put the TV on the opposite wall and float the sectional to make a small hallway from the door. Then, get the baby things under control--just have out only what you need at that time.

That huge sectional is taking up a lot of space. Are you keeping it?

Switch the sectional and the play yard. Agree with moving the TV to the opposite wall. Remove the decor items on the tall wall. Move some of the gallery wall pictures to beside the front door and over the credenza.

Adding more lighting will be an easy fix that will make a lot of impact.

Almost all your lighting is from above. Did you ever look at yourself in the Target self-checkout camera? That's what overhead lighting does.

You have space for floor lamps and space for side tables that you can put lamps on as well.

The other thing that's nice about lamps is that they add shape and interest to the middle level of the room which will make it look more finished and homey.

IMO this large wall could look better painted a charcoal gray with picture ledges applied, as I assume with a new baby there will be lots of images to display and you're not very good at doing that presently.

When you move the TV as suggested and create a path from entry door, anchor the sofa so the front legs rest on the area rug, extending the rug area into the room. I agree with all previous comments. Certainly if you could repurpose the sectional to a rec area or gathering room, and get a sofa and some swivel / rockers for guests and enjoying close baby time. A round or oval coffee table (no sharp edges or corners) will help as well as you progress to sippy cups. Remember the baby stuff will be replaced with legos, tween “stuff”, and leggy teenager shoes, clothes, etc. (my son said his younger sister was a ‘glacier’ when it came to the stuff she left in her trail) for the next 18 years or so, so be flexible and enjoy this temporary household disarray!
