Yes, I saw it and answered it on the "RiverRat" thread.

Truthfully, though, I grow tired of defending the recipe and apathetic about whether people make the d***ed salsa or not, I'm just sorry I ever posted the thing.

I have made your salsa, although I dont eat alot of it, and it is very good! I will defend you! I also use Brokenbar’s sundried tomatoes. We had such a great group way back.

Yes, we did, back when it was still just a group of mostly friends and we had get togethers and actually cooked. I miss LindaLou and Digdirt and the days when your local extension service would do things like test your pressure gauge and help with canning recipes and the County Fair still actually had enough entries to be competitive. (sigh)

But now we have Facebook and TikTok where the children know everything but no one knows each other. Ugh.

I just got done with the county fair. My cowboy candy [pickled jalapenos] pulled a blue with several asking for the recipe.

bragu, I could have taken every ribbon because there was not one single entry. I was not able to drop off entries, as they had a 4 hour window while I was unavailable. When I checked to see what had won, not a single canned item had been entered. Maybe everyone else was busy too...

I defend your salsa recipe too! its the go to recipe for us, and taught to the next generation, its reassuring to be in the kitchen with the ladies and hear them ”dictate” the rules of measuring to their friends as they chop and chat!

Annie, I'm so sorry people are giving you a tough time with your salsa recipe (stunned to hear it really). You're salsa recipe is legendary amongst my friends & family! Everyone loves it. I've made three batches so far this year.

Boo, it's not really the recipe that is being criticized, it's me personally. In the past year or so I've heard countless variations of:

It's not YOUR recipe, you STOLE it from XXXXX. (From someone who invented it last year, usually)

You never had that tested, extensions services don't do that. (Not anymore, they don't)

You aren't the real Annie, and that's not the real recipe. (How do I even answer this?)

And, my favorite always is "I made that recipe and changed every single thing and it turned out terrible and isn't even safe to can, you're an awful person and should be ashamed/harassed/ridiculed/whatever".

So, as always my answer is that if you don't want to make it, don't. (shrug) Makes no difference to me but I've spent all the hours I intend to spend listening to young people who know everything and read it on the internet/heard on TikTok/looked it up on Google. Ugh.

@annie1992 Oh no! I wandered over here after asking about food mills on the cooking forum. Food mill in part to make your salsa which I love. I have not seen people attacking the recipe or you but it makes no sense.

Not here, agmss. I don't "do" social media, but Elery has Facebook plus my recipe has been "shared" in various forums. Everyone, of course, has to say something, and I've learned that if the recipe gets posted somewhere, DO NOT READ THE REVIEWS!

So, at least I learned something, LOL.

Annie, I'm so sorry to read this. You'd be a rock star around here because of that salsa! You're salsa is legendary here. I do tell people, when they ask, "Why is it Annie's Salsa?" that I went to canning camp where you were one of the instructors!
