offer-center sink/bathroom cabinet

last year

I’m remodeling my master bathroom and wanted to integrate a 20 inch make up vanity space to the bathroom vanity cabinets. The entire width measures 98 inches. I wanted to add two 27 inch sink cabinets (double vanity) with two 12 inch drawer cabinets and a 20 inch make up vanity in the middle. This layout is the only way I can integrate 12 inch drawer cabinets. The issue I’m having here is the sink/faucet placement. The faucets are wall mount and both are 15 inches away from each wall. I would have to center the sink with the faucet which would leave both the faucet and sink off center with the 27 inch base cabinet. I cannot move the plumbing because I’ve already added an accent tile over the walls. Is it normal to have an off center faucet/sink? Or would it be too noticeable. Any design tips or ideas? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Does the make up vanity have to centered on the wall? I think the faucets have to be centered on the sinks to even function properly. Maybe consider a 30" vanity on both sides with an 18" drawer bank on one side and then the make up vanity?

Why not get narrower base cabinets for the sink that would allow the sinks to be centered in the cabinets? (Not sure what width that would be, you'd need to figure that out.) Then instead of 12" bases, get 15" or 18", whatever width would allow the 20" makeup vanity in the center. Is the makeup vanity to be open at the bottom, so a chair would be used?

If I were doing this for myself or for a client, I would have planned for the cabinets, sinks, and faucets before any demolition was done. You might want to try drawing it out on graph paper.

I wouldn't want a 12" drawer base because the actual insides of the drawer is going to be quite small. Small as in 7-9" interior width depending on framed or frameless cabinet construction.

Wider drawer bases are going to be a much better value.

I would agree with you ci_lantro if this were a kitchen. However, in a bathroom, there are so many little items to be stored that a 9" interior width is quite useful. The vanities in my master bathroom have narrow drawers on either side of the sink cabinet and they are great for makeup, medications, health and beauty aids, even my hair dryer and brushes, etc., that could get lost in a larger drawer. Of course you could buy drawer inserts but that kind of defeats the purpose of a large drawer.

This is confusing. Your picture looks like the faucets are not the same distance of the side wall. Even the wall tile looks like the left 2 stacks are the same width but the right one is narrower?

Someone please tell me if I need new glasses LOL

What is the centerline to the spout of the faucet ( not the drain line ) ? I would think with your particular faucet - that is what you want to line up with.

I would not offset sinks or faucets in a cabinet.

Debbi, it looks like there is one handle and a spout for each sink, and it appears that the spouts are the same distance from the side walls.

You need a minimum of 15" from the side wall to the middle of the sink. You could use 20" cabs for the sinks, centered on the faucets, and fill the resultant 5" gap on each end with slim pullouts. That would leave you with 28" for drawers, either one set of drawers or split in two. However, is 20" really enough for a makeup center? That seems a little tight to me.

Ok so I need a new prescription LOL - even the tiles look off to me.

This is tough - plumbing was done without a plan and it is a problem.

If the faucet spouts are 15" ON CENTER, then this is really all that would work

    3 1/2" filler - 23 " sink base - 12" cab - 24" knee drawer - 12" cab - 23" sink base - 3 1/2" filler.

Try to find a cabinet line that modifies widths.

    Good luck!
