Fabric ideas wanted to uphoster dining room chairs.

Hi,

I'm looking for some matching fabric ideas to re-uphoster our dining room chairs. Our curtains are Silverdale by Colefax and Fowler... See pics...I was thinking of going with some green?? Any ideas would greatly be appreciated!!! Thank you! :)

I’d highlight the wall color, using a rich/fun floral. Mixing florals is a great way to add interest and I think your room would pop and chairs will get a new life..

I'd go with a small plaid that has the colors in the curtains, with cream as the main color.

Hi Maureen, would a flower pattern of the chairs clashed with the flower pattern of the curtains?

It’s a look you have to feel comfortable with, but they won’t clash if the colors connect and pattern is different/intentional.

I'd keep the chair fabric very neutral. Trying to suggest a color on a monitor is almost impossible, but this is what I think might work:

JB Martin is the only velvet made in the USA. Their Como and Cannes lines of upholstery seem to be solid choices, with many green (and more) color options. Several online fabric stores offer inexpensive samples and also sell by the yard. Just Google. I am in a similar process to yours, and I now have quite a collection of samples.

I love your idea of using green, but green happens to be my favorite color. How about something like this?

A green and creme floral would also be a good choice for the seats.

I’d be inclined to look for a lattice design in which ever color worked best…would echo the caning and always is a good pairing with florals

Just wanted to mention, when searching for fabric, keep an open mind and bring home lots of different looks (samples and books). Still suggest going dramatic and play up the lovely wall color, as it‘s the dominant influence in room vs the drapes (they will easily blend in). I think the examples provided by others will make the chairs and room feel old fashioned.

If not comfortable with florals, there are so many other design choices and imagine the overall effect in room with complementary accessorizing. Think big picture.

Checks or stripes in red or green would work. I'd stay away from boring neutral miniprints--be daring and take a chance, don't be color-phobic!
