I'll look forward to hearing about these roses.

“I'll look forward to hearing about these roses.”

Sheila - Does this mean you will be joining ARE’s private Facebook group to receive exclusive (a la GRF) bonus information and surprises with each week’s release?

I am on that site rifis but Kim is helping others who are not. ARE is a good company.

I received this as an email and not on their facebook page, and I am definitely looking forward to seeing these. Some of their exclusive roses are because they bred the varieties so they get the first right to claim them as I see it. As far as I know, they don't restrict anyone else from selling these roses, it's just that they're the go-to company for these Pioneer roses. I agree that ARE is a wonderful company and not the kind of problems in exclusivity seen in some other companies.

I don't have Facebook, I don't want to give them my ID.

Can someone post the new roses here?

I just made a post two days ago about antique roses

    https://www.gardenweb.com/discussions/6465675/huntington-rose-garden

so I was going to buy some from there but now I think should wait to see what they have. I wonder if they will have time after time. It's a new rose I saw and put in my post.

The link email Said they will be rolled out so they haven't done that yet.

Of course ALL of this is AFTER their alert to hurry and buy from them before they raised their prices. Had you bought any of the "also-ran" stuff they already had, they would have been $24.95 each. NOW, the same things (and likely the new things which are pretty certain to be bred from Heritage and Carefree Beauty as SO many of them have been), will sell for at least the new price of $34.95. I'm glad those two perform well somewhere. Neither were ever very good anywhere I grew them.

Wow! I didn't realize the price increase was $10! Might have thought just a few dollar increase would suffice.. I'm glad I bought all my roses they were $19.95 and free shipping.

You are right. I had two roses in my cart on Sunday and now looking at the price I can see it went up.

With all these price increases, I think I will be buying less roses and working more on my food forest for when shtf LOL! Of course, I will be buying SoMe roses especially ones that are harder to find, while/when I can get them.

Makes me glad I can root cuttings!!

In case you weren't aware, ARE also holds rose give aways on Instagram where they pull a name from an entrant from a hat in the video then contact that person and give them a rose. There are a number of advantages to engaging with nurseries and other businesses on "social media" and there ARE ways to do it without having to reveal your "true identities". That's up to us all individually, but several really are doing some fun, interesting things.

@Z10Socal I wanted to let you know that I think there is some glitch with your thread from 2 days ago about the Huntington. I wrote a long reply right after you posted it, and I can see it, but the thread says no replies. H*z does that sometimes. There's no way you'd have no replies on that thread. Anyway, you might try re-posting it!

Don't mean to hijack this thread :-D

Yes Susan. It says no comments but I commented on it and I can see my comment on my tablet.

    roseseek,

I don't know your experience with facebook but here is mine. I made an account with an alias name and had it for 4 years. Then I tried to use it a month ago to check out a rose page and my login info vanished. I then tried to create another alias account and this time FB asked for my ID. So I could not open an account there without my ID.

I deactivated my insta in August, I needed a social media break and really don't want to go back on.

    susan9santabarbara

Susan, thank you for letting me know🙏🏻. I wonder if it is a glitch or I got blocked some how. We really do need a better site to talk about roses on.

I asked my hubby to leave me a comment just now and we do not see the comment at all as well.

Do you see the comment if you go into the thread. . I can see my comment perfectly fine but again yours reads as unanswered On the title page. Don't worry, I'm not in facebook or any of that either. After having my phone hacked and losing my entire life for the past 20 years I'm not anxious to sign up for google again either. That is a total pain.

I am on facebook but everything is completely blocked as in private. Only family and a few close, real life friends can see anything. I just use it for a few select groups locally, and for a few statewide groups like for Bee keeping etc. I I am more active on Instagram and you tube. I dont really like facebook. I prefer Instagram.

forever_a_newbie_VA8 Yeah I see nothing. I would like to see your comments.

Can you ladies put them here? Does anyone have William R Smith rose?

My husband is a computer software engineer and thinks with the new changes there is going to be bugs and Houzz needs to look in on their back end.

I was wondering why every one keeps commenting on the same summer thread post over a 1000 comments. Is that the reason? You all are having tech issues too and prefer just to comment where you know every one can actually see it?

Can you see the comment I made or only your own comments?

That last one was perfume factory. Is yours not light? since we were in the 3 digits maybe the heat lightings it up.

I think the seasonal thread Is only change seasonally , not monthly.

The Summer Thread is just a friendly chat thread that anyone can just pull up a chair and get their wine, coffee, or tea and post photos of what they are up to, pets, gardens etc. Doesn't have to be only roses. It changes seasonally. The next one will be Fall_Autumn.

Z10, glad you got your thread activated. This forum works very well 99% of the time, but very rarely there are glitches. For me, this is the best rose forum of the various ones of which I'm a member :-D

That is good it works for you 99%of the time. I know it does not work well for a lot of us though.

Anyone on Facebook? Can you post the new rose here ? I believe one is coming out today .

I would also like to know. I don’t have a FB either. I googled the ARE FB page and I didn’t see any public facing announcement but I am curious

    Thank you Echo

I’m not sure why, but i thought these new releases were from the breeding program within ARE, from the Pioneer Series. I’m reading the new release is a Kordes from 2013 that looks like it is otherwise widely available. I didnt understand this unvieling promotion completely

Echo really? They are not new. I might as well order what I have in my cart right now then.

    I'm surprised, also!

I too thought they were going to be featuring new roses from their breeding program. Looks like these 7 new ones are going to be roses new to their own offerings - but maybe they will throw in a few of their own news ones too. I just got in the first few boxes of 2 orders I made before prices changed. The plants are just gorgeous! Very healthy and all leafed out. In spite of the price increase, I am happy they are a thriving business. Losing Regan Roses and Palatine was a shock.....

Without Mike Shoup 100% at ARE, after his retirement, maybe the breeding program has changed.

New Rose Release.... Tupelo Honey? It's been around a while. Nice rose. Evidently new to ARE. The anticipation of the first release fizzled out for most, but hope is not lost. There are more weeks left and possibly new varieties bred at ARE will be among the "New Releases." Has anyone contacted ARE for the name list of theirtheir upcoming new releases? Are they keeping it a secret?

Could be bad marketing since the final week 7 is just about election week. Maybe they planned it that way?

This is all because of the lack of Mike Shoup at ARE.

Holding my breath for the next exciting new exclusive! Queen Liz? Pascali? Angel Face?

    No, it'll be Iceberg...YAWN.

This sounds lovely. I was technically supposed to be in Austin in November but decided to stay home in California.

I know! I was thinking that would make a nice little break. I don't think these choices are so bad, just not what we were expecting. I grow many of them and they do well no spray. In fact, had they announced Red Eden prior, I probably would have ordered it when I was looking for red climber a few weeks back.

Nicest packed roses I have seen. I just got quicksilver, souvenir de la Maimón and quietness 🥰

I was thinking ARE would have one of their own exclusive roses and they did release their own as the last! It looks lovely!

Ah, now THAT is a rose I could get behind to order! Great presence, hardy, novel, and compact. Also I don't have an "X" rose in my inventory, and part of my weird "gotta have em all" mentality chafes at that. I'm pleased to see another Shoup rose getting released which gives me hope there still might be more coming in the future.

Thanks for posting this! I agree that their packaging is a strength, as well as the quality and size of the plants received, and the pots are so big it explains the hefty shipping costs.

Charlene is a big rose here in my So. CA. garden. Flowers take the summer heat pretty well. ARE is a nice place to visit. I'm glad I made the effort to go. Texas is beautiful.

I included the rose Xenna on my order a few days ago as it was new to me and also very pretty and rather ethereal looking. The remainder of my order included roses I'd grown before except for La Vicomtesse, which had the sound of an old rose and also the appearance. I wonder if anyone here has grown this rose.

I have La Vicomtesse and she is a really solid pink rose! Fragrant, healthy and vigorous!

Thank you, oursteelers, that sounds like a great recommendation. I hope she likes my garden.

I agree - La Vicomtesse is large and robust and a tough cookie in a part shade area of my yard, and she blends in quite well with OGRs in the bed. I think she will be a good fit for your tastes, having that refined grace you appreciate in roses Ingrid. I also ordered Xenna this year so we'll share notes later in the season to see how it does for us! Being another Pioneer rose, I expect another tough and floriforous bush.
