Leaves on Flamming Katy are crispy

Hello everyone,

I have a Flaming Katy from Home Depot. It was really healthy until it got infested with fungus gnats. At the time I didn't know what fungus gnats were so I figured I could get rid of them with soapy water spray. Of course that did not help because the soil was infested with eggs. After I did some more research I found out different ways to get rid of fungus gnats. One of which was re-potting in fresh soil. So, I washed the pot and filled it with fresh soil and put the Flaming Katy in the fresh pot. A few days later the leaves turned black and wrinkled and fell off. I pruned off all of the bad leaves that did not fall off and waited for it to regrow. It has been growing very slowly and now the new leaves are crispy and curling. Please help.
