Had to look up what the heck a "flaming Katy" was as I have never heard that common name in use before :-) Kalanchoë blossfeldiana is a succulent so needs succulent type care - a fast draining cactus or succulent potting soil, plenty of bright, indirect light, warm temps and minimal watering.

If you had an issue with fungus gnats, then the soil the plant came in was bad - too moisture retentive. That was the start of your problems. If showing no improvement and even further deterioration after repotting, then again, the soil is most likely to blame.

The Kalanchoe is in my kitchen out of direct light. My kitchen has a North window and an East window. I was worried it wasn't getting enough light and that's why it was growing so slow. It is in cactus soil and I added a little extra perlite to the soil to make sure it was well draining.
