I like your current rug and would probably use a larger jute rug under it. I think that would look great with your couch and rug.

Any and all recommendations welcome, even beyond the rug! I should mention we are replacing the crappy corner desk with a similar bookshelf/cabinet to the one on the left side. And use the MCM chair as an accent.

I'd select a 9x 12 so there was room to add a lounge chair to the conversation area.

@BeverlyFLADeziner Loooove those rugs and VERY pleased that I could add a cool patterned rug into the mix. Do you think it would be too busy? Or would it complement the artwork and balance out the dark wood furniture and tan couch?

You can try out rugs on RugsDirect.com as well as other websites. I limited this to TRIBAL or GLOBAL NOMAD area rugs. Test the rug by purchasing a very small size so there are no surprises. Easier to send back a small are rug than dragging back a 9x12 area rug.
