Will you be painting this trim to match the living room?

I like the wallpaper and the plan to paint the table navy. I know nothing about painting MDF. 🤷‍♀️ My choice for rug would be the vintage persian.

mtn you need 2 things - a bit of prep and the right paint. The surface has to be scuffed but don't worry about deep sanding, just break the finish that's on there. Use a good bonding primer (NOT paint and primer in one) and then this paint in your chosen color - it does come in gloss. I have this on multiple pieces of furniture and it's now my favorite. We spray it but it can be brushed. Amazing finish, tough as nails.

Nicole, If I use persian I'd want something vintage. The wallaper is a given, too... Both here and on the first floor landing I plan to use a patterned grasscloth to coordinate with the solid grasscloth above the panelling in the LR. I do love navy wall tho not here.

JSK - big discussion w the painter on where to stop and start. We decided to follow the paradigm I did in the K; paint the trim but keep the doors stained.

After the last ”project” that DD had for me, I’ve sworn off every painting anything again. This (below) little console from Room and Board comes in navy. It is 14 inches deep, 32 inches wide, and 29 inches high. I was looking for one that looked more Parson-ish in the Room and Board ”by the inch” series. They have a navy Parsons table but the top is a different material.

I think the positioning of the sconce was probably intentional.

The sconce is going, as is the extension cord for the lamp; we will add an outlet.

Also my first thoughts. I would only do wallcovering if doing the entire area, one without a pattern, and take it up the staircase.

That depends. The patterned grasscloth is from a diff company than the solid I chose for the LR. Some of the samples have a background that matches the solid perfectly, and some are off. When I get a CFA I will determine if they are close enough to work together. However, in any event. I am not going up the "Good Morning Stairs," but only the front stairs.

I plan to go to a vendor where I can look at a bunch of runners in person I think. Prob when I am in NYC one of these days.

IDK. I am guessing it is heat. I think a 2x6 will just skirt it, given that the lil' table is only 30" wide

Pal, We have a land of orphaned sconces in the basement, because a lot of them were in the "wrong place" for how we use the spaces. We have kept several others, however.

I own this rug (yes it is red) and tried it here for size. It came with the house. It is about 9'7" x 2.5". I thought I wanted a dark Persian but now I say "no." While I like the house to look old, I also like it to feel mostly summery.

But most of the rugs I like best do not come in the right size. I know I am risking grass/sisal/wicker overload on several fronts, but I have always liked this rug

Well, the personality of this was quite sad! I actually never gave it a thought until I was looking at where to stop and start the LR paint job. BTW, in this hallway, we will be painting all the trim white and leave all the doors stained, and then decide if we like the doors that way. We followed that paradigm in the K, but those doors are stained a lighter color so IDK...

We are at the BOWWOW (our place with the Big Orange Wall) for a few days but I will need to verify the measurement, and I also need to make sure that the jute runner color works with the grasscloth background of the wallpaper. That old "two neutrals" do not always go thing, ya' know...

Yes, that's what I've used. Multiple pieces of furniture. LOVE the finish. Still no power, connections are fickle with pics so won't even try.
