Siding and color advice for a modern natural house.

I am looking for ideas for updating the exterior siding of this cedar house. Something modern in keeping with the lines of the roof but comfortably natural. I work on interiors mainly, but need to come up with some ideas and color schemes for this, any help would be very welcome!

I think we need a bit more info please . I will say as much as I love trees that one has to goand what are you planning for the area where the rafters are open? Maybe start there . Not really sure what a "natural" house is so an explanation is needed for us to help you

You are keeping the roof? if so, i’d go with creams and soft whites

I agree, the tree needs to go, or at least be trimmed so its not dragging all over the roof. Its too close to the foundation of the house too. The house itself, doesnt seem to need much, but, the landscaping looks like a bit of a mess, and could use a lot of work. I would concentrate on all that before I did anything to the house itself. I would not change the house color, it fits the style of the house just like it is.

I am not a fan of contrasting trim. the style of the building is interesting, show it off by focus on the landscaping. if the siding is in great shape, I would use a sealer, if not, a solid stain for a dramatic change. Looks like a large home, where is the entrance? how close to the road access is it, do you need more privacy? A bit more info would help.

Oh my! That tree has to go ASAP! Get that out of there before you do anything to the house (which you can’t even see). And while you’re at it, trim back all of the other greenery. The house as-is appears to be neglected.

    THEN consider your options.

    1) Cream with white trim, just a lighter version of the beige there.

    2) Beige with white trim, same siding color as now.

    3) Sage green with terracotta trim.

Hello, thanks for the comments this far. The trees have already been cut back substantially and the landscaping removed and replanted.

It is a large corner lot in a quiet neighborhood, so the idea that is is visible from the street is fine. It's the former model so it would be nice to bring it back to life.

I am willing to replace the siding and possibly the roof

I do know what is wrong with this house and it will all change. Iam looking for ideas about colors and siding. Thank you to all those who gave that feedback.

Thanks for info. Do you have a current photo? I'd love to see what the house looks like now. Model houses often have extra features added.

    Absolutely, here it is

In this case the extra feature is a solarium and extra deep porch, the entry way is behind the tree, an entry path will be added to one side of the tree

By Modern Natural I mean much sharper modern look without being to pasture since the house is somewhat wooded. Thinking warm colors ect

Limestone with slate blue trim is a strong combination for a striking effect.

Now, that I can actually see it, I like it even more. I definitely would not change the color that it is. It nestles nicely into its setting. Yes, it needs a path to the front door. Some pots of colorful shade type plants and a few chairs on that patio type area, would help a bit, since it definitely could use a bit of color. Lots of lighting by that entry way too.

I'd think about doing vertical siding to mimic the rafters/pergola that goes over the front porch. Either plank siding or board and batten would look great, IMO. As for colors, stick to earth tones to go with that red-brown roof. My vote would be for a sage green for the siding and paint the door red. Don't do contrast trim with this house. Too much going on.

These houses have vertical siding and stain, which you could also do.

I have to agree I like the color as it is but trully that tree has to go still. I still do not understand what you are palnning for those open rafters ? The landscping looks boring and too small to be effective. UNless the siding is in bad shape I would not change it I see nor improvement by doing vertical siding .Where is the front door ???

    Apple Pie Order,

    Thank you, like you examples!

You also confirmed what I was what I was thinking, about a vertical board and battan starting to make sense of the rafters at front, thank you for that especially!

I am going to run with the idea of eliminating any contrasting trim completely, and like the one image you put noted, perhaps some natural wood accents instead at places, garage door, might work?

The neighboring house is sage, so I will have to push into the browns or creams, at this point. Also, I will come up with an option that includes changing the roof to achieve a different look.

Unless the roof needs replacing, that's a big expense to undertake for cosmetic purposes. Leave it as is, and just do the siding. Take a look at Hardie board; I'm sure you'll find a color you like there: https://www.jameshardie.com/product-catalog/exterior-siding-products/hardie-panel-siding/select-cedarmill/statement-collection-colors/?color=arctic-white

Yea that tree still does have to go. Why? Because (a) it's too close to the house and if a storm takes it down it going to go down right though the roof, and much less importan but notable from a design perspective, (b) can't see the front door.

I would do a dark brown and white trim to match the windows.
