Best countertop and lighting for my kitchen and dining

Hi everyone!

I’m in the middle of renovating my kitchen and dining area and could really use some design input. The attached photos show the old layout, but we’ve made a few changes. In the kitchen, we’ve kept the white cabinets (with a slightly different layout) and expanded the island. The eat-in area will have grayish furniture, and all the appliances will be stainless steel.

For the third photo, we’re turning that space into a formal dining area. We plan to install a chandelier above the dining table, which will be grayish like the chairs.

I’m looking for advice on:

Countertop colors: What color do you think would look best with the white cabinets, grayish furniture, and stainless steel appliances in the kitchen?
Lighting styles: What kind of pendant lights for the kitchen island and chandelier for the dining area would tie everything together and create a modern yet warm atmosphere?

We’re going for a cohesive, clean, and modern design throughout the home, and I’d love to hear your suggestions on how to enhance these spaces!

I am right handed, and the wall of the ovens next to the cooktop gives me bruises on my elbows, just thinking about it. I would move the ovens to the other side of the cooktop, which would balance better, and not have me hitting my funny bone while stirring the sauce.

I would look into removing that open shelving and why is there a sink in the island when I do not see a fridge near that sink/The shelves look tacked on take them away and so a bigger hood IMO. As for the lighting I think DR chandeliers are the star so chose that first then the pendants over the island . I like both the chandelier and the pendants to light the surface below not the ceiling . For any more help we need to see your dining table and chairs .

Taht fridge placemment has nothing to do with the poor reason for 2 sinks since the one under the window is the best placement for fridge access/
