Seeking input on home exterior renovation recommendations!

We are planning to reside our outdated split level home and update the front door overhang. Hoping for a look that is warm and welcoming. Would love to hear your recommendations!

Clean up the landscaping first as much of that is way overgrown. What are you residing? The upper level of the split has what type of siding now as it appears to be roof shingles? What do you mean by "update the front door overhang"?

Thank you! Yes, unfortunately the upper level is currently sided with asphalt shingles. There is some minor wood rot in some underlying places so inspector recommended residing ASAP. We are thinking we will mimic the current look with shake siding but we are unsure.

As for the overhang, I’m referring to the current portico over the door. We are toying with the idea of making this into a gable portico but not sure how this would look with this style home.

    Any feedback is appreciated!!

Could you show pictures taken from the corners at an angle showing the front and each side?

I like the landscape, although it does need some work, because is helps hide the lower level.

I'd consider keeping the entrance simple, maybe adding some columns under a flat roof.

The color of the roof stands out in a bad way. Any plans to change it?

I like the idea of shakes on the top half, however, nothing on the house goes with the existing roof. Is that due to be replaced too. For your color roof, and the shakes that would look great there, I would like to see a brown roof. The landscaping could use a bit of trimming, but, its actually pretty decent, once you clean it up a bit.

The roof will also be replaced, probably next year!
I will post some additional angles of the house. Thank you for all your great input!

The brown and cream doesn't go with the gray roof. If the rot is minor, you might just replace the rotten bits and paint. I might choose a slatey blue with that roof and the cream brick. You can replace the porch roof with a metal roof. With the current colors, a copper roof would look really good.

It looks like you have some thriving Rhodos. I bet they are gorgeous in bloom. If you just bought the house I'd wait to see them in bloom and then trim them back a bit.

White cedar shingles that will weather to a silvery gray/beige, white trim, no shutters, simple shed roof over the entry supported by white columns, landscaping tamed a bit?

I would open more the front view. As for future roof I would go with charcoal gray for contrast

Thank you all for the input! I’m wondering if anyone can provide a rendering with a gable style portico? Thanks!

Proportions and detailing will matter here, so make sure you get a builder who's good at them.
