tile edge detail options: Schulter, mitered return, or __?

Our tile doesn't have matching trim pieces. Our backsplash layout does not expose much edge. Two places it will be exposed are quite noticeable being just below eye level. (1) near the sink and (2) the vertical edge where the tile goes to the floor. We could tile to an outside corner or before it and prefer to the corner. It is near a dishwasher and will need to be easy to clean.

I'm debating hiring help vs DIY but I don't think I can pull off a mitered return. I love how it looks but worry about ruining too much tile trying to get it right (I'd need a good tutorial). What options are there for nice looking edges? Photos are so helpful.

You need the J100TSB if that's your tile color. Match the Schluter to the tile.

Can you show your application, as they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Regardless, for me, I would use the Schluter.

I dislike the look of Schluter, so I always look for tile that has matching trim pieces or bullnose options.

Fireclay does have matching trim pieces, but you probably have to place a custom order and wait several weeks. Your link has that information!

They do not have matching tile for the non-custom line, only custom and colors vary btwn the two. I understand why they do it this way and appreciate an economical option they offer, though don't like Schluter so much either. The tile is happening bc it's otherwise perfect.

Good advice on the matching Schluter to the tile. Nearly all of the photos I've seen of this tile are with white grout but we'll be using a beige grout so your advice, @McDonald Enterprises sounds good.

I'm curious if anyone has done mitered returns....I found videos on mitered corners but not returns.

I'm rarely a fan of mitered tile edges as they're difficult to make look good, expensive, and prone to chipping.

I'm with chispa. I don't care for Schluter and think of it as a (very) last resort. In your case, I think your tile is easily replaced with something that has edge pieces.

In fact, I would ONLY consider tile that had edge pieces. There are SO many companies, I'm sure you could keep looking and find something quite similar.

Our tile guy did a beautiful mitered return at the end of our kitchen backsplash - like yours, the tile we chose had no trim, and like you, I loathe Schluter. This photo is obviously before it was grouted.

We are not changing tile choice- 100% not happening. There are options for edge treatment and I am interested in discussing them here.
