best size for new art work

Plan to replace temporary art work with a permanent picture. While I have one large picture in mind, wondering if 2 or 3 pictures may work also.
Wall size:13.5’ x 14’. Table size 83”x 48”.
Current wall hanging is 54”x 39”.

the size you have is good, but way too dark for the room. do you have room to move the sideboard under the art? the light is a little high... 30" to 36" above the table top. or even spin the table?

The scale of your light fixture is not large enough for the room.

When hanging the new piece(s), it looks like your current piece is hung too high. Try lining the top up with the top of the window on the perpendicular wall. The rule of thumb is to hang art with the midpoint at eye level. That's eye level of the average person, not someone who is unusually tall or short. There is wiggle room as it does depend on exactly what you're hanging. Once you decide what you are going to put there, tape up an outline of it before nailing the hanger in the wall to help yourself visualize the end result. If you're not sure, update your post with a picture of the outline for comments.

Those are very high ceilings so I would go bigger in scale for the art or do multiples:

Huge and vibrant is awsome when you have a wall like that I rarely like triple pieces they often remind me of hotel rooms I suggest if you live where there is an art college check out their art sales usually once a year . Find an art student that you like their work and commission a pice it will be special and I would aslo get a new light hung lower and with the lighting lighting the table not the ceiling .I strongly advise you do not tell the artist how to do their work. I have once or twice suggested colors and even regretted that. You choose an artist for their work so let them do what they do that drew you to them in the first place . I tell them size thats it

Measurement/proportions are everything for the entire room and before going larger (be sure to tape out sizes):

If you keep the art, I think any horizontal art might need a sideboard underneath. The one you have feels oddly placed/is the wrong style and if budget allowed maybe look for one that will complement your dining set.

Maybe measure for a large square shape (if artist can provide) and will have a nice contemporary feel/fill wall much better. If you don’t have room for a console due to proximity of table, this is a good option.

Additionally, your rug should be centered and a larger chandelier will do wonders to ground the room.

Took Patrica’s advice and bought an art piece by local artist that represents our beautiful surrounding community. New picture is 70x42. Chandelier is 38 inches from table (bottom of it). New windows since last posting. Like the idea of a tall plant in corner. Has to be skinny, any plant suggestions? Slowly putting remodel together.
