Your namesake is such an interesting beauty, Kim!

Thank you, Sheila, I agree! Mr. Moore used to sell his seedlings he hadn't chosen to retain for further evaluation at the nursery for $2 in 2" pots. Paul Barden bought this in a batch he selected on one of his infrequent visits. He got it home and grew it on, deciding it was much too good to not do something with, so he took it back to Mr. Moore. It was definitely one of the many which didn't show its mettle as a tiny plant in a tiny pot. He and Mr. Moore decided it was precisely the type of Mr. Moore's roses perfectly suitable to bear my name. They were right! A name can make or break a rose. I questioned then if being named for me would help save it or kill it. Paul assured me it would help save it. So, I kind of owe it to the rose to help it along. It resulted from the same cross as 9 Stripe (which created Moore's Striped Rugosa, and My Best Friend) and contains the same ancestors as Rose Gilardi, only then crossed with Golden Angel.There is MUCH behind it to explore and play with if anyone has any interest in seeing what they can dig out of it.

Wow, I can tell how many Kim Rupert fans there are out there (other than the obvious ones that we are here..). I rushed over to RVR website and it's already sold out :(. This gives me hope though that they'll keep it in circulation so I'll watch for it another time. They do have some new Paul Barden roses that had been out of stock like Joyce Barden and Allegra.

Just gorgeous rose, Kim (and Ralph Moore!). It reminds me of Edgar Degas in a smaller form but with that amazing mossing on the backside of the blooms.
