What’s on YOUR holiday wish list?

last year

We’ve got lots of ideas for giving…what would you like to get?

I’m asking Santa for these tiny double pearl earrings. Saw them in a shop a few months ago and loved them. By an artist from Denmark, I think.

And an accessory for my winter hibernation.

Also, I just took advantage of a sale and bought myself a KA stand mixer… in pink!

Love your new ring-- and it looks perfect with the bracelet and your nail polish!

@BBSTX, wow the passport is very interesting. I didn't care for the blue but they have an all gold one that i like. Heretofore all my ideas were Malta-related, since that will be my 100th country. Like an old coin, a small Maltese cross, or something with a bee (one of their symbols).

Now you have me thinking of something more general. Maybe a tiny suitcase.

  • last year

The description says the passport charm includes 10 stamps, but one of the reviews said they did 12 stamps for her. Maybe you could do the first country you visited, Malta (the 100th), and 8-10 other special places?

I have a travel related charm may not be your thing but thought I'd share -- the link to travel is subtle to anyone but me. The front displays a lotus. On the back there is a compass rose and a quote around the (thicker) bezel. I designed this and a few other meaningful charms with a designer at Heather B. Moore - The Finest Personalized Jewelry

I didnt reach 100 countries lol.. it marked my 40th and recognized the role of travel throughout my years:

    • exchange student in 1981
    • 10+ yr working for an airline
    • an award for travel-related software

I wear this charm on a chain almost daily

    I love the little suitcase.

But I want the airplane, anchor, and Sept birthstone map pin charms.

    Cool!

OMG and it has a matching pillow of course!

    She's so pretty in pink!

I wanna see more of that pillow. Ya' know, I was a little confused by the choice of pink in your K but the pillow explains it all now! Or did you get the mixer to match those new shoes?

We have one of these squrrel proof bird feeders. We have lurs on a post, but they can also be hung. The feeder can be adjusted to accommodate or dissuade certain birds by weight. We want cardinals.

Absolute feeder, widely available, and Audubon Society sells them.

Sue, very pretty KA mixer. What is that type of fabric called that’s on the pretty pillow?

  • last year

Mtn, if you’d been paying attention, ahem, when I painted the powder room (which is practically IN the kitchen) pink, I announced that I was in my Pink Phase and needed a few pink accents in the kitchen. When we first did the kitchen, I had turquoise accents, but I’m over that.

Petal — I am not home, but this is the pillow.

Petalique, my first question with squirrel-proof feeders is, how long does it take for the squirrels to figure out how to get the food?

I remembered a gift someone could actually get me: a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream. It has gotten so expensive, but it can last me a while. It’s my ”Winter Olympics” beverage of choice but it’s an off year, but I think I can find some Netflix to watch with it.

@Sueb20 lovety love the colors in that pillow.

I forget where I was talking about parfait glasses for your yogurt parfaits, but I meant these Anchor Hocking ones I've had 20 years. Cannot find them anymore

But how cute are these? The big river people can get them to you Wednesday. : ) They go with your kitchen, just sayin'

And just look at the mfr.s prose! They specifically tell you "him" is good for ThxG and birthday!

    • This dessert bowl is beautifully shaped like a budding flower, and wonderful utensils add flavor to food.
    • Believe in the quality of this dessert bowl, I think when you receive the goods you will be able to feel his difference - exquisite workmanship and excellent manufacturing.
    • Note that his 10 ounce capacity may be a little larger than you expect, suitable for ice cream, sundaes, desserts, candies, fruits, snacks and more.
    • Perfect for parties, weddings, banquets, family gatherings and various other occasions, it will add some elegance and charm to your party.
    • It can be used as wedding ceremony decorations, birthday and Thanksgiving gifts for friends and family, beautiful decorations for housewarming gifts, and as elegant decorations for dining tables, holiday tables or kitchen counters.

Hmm, "you will be able to feel his difference" is giving me romance-novel vibes, anyone?

Uhh ohh Perhaps a suspicious review here?

I am also not reading bb’s posts any more. I ordered a sentimental charm and chain for DD and umm, 3 charms and a chain for yours truly. It also has sentimental meaning and will be something DD will want someday when I am gone. So okay, it is kind of for her.

  • last year

    we wanna see

    My post is cheaper!

  • last year

Well I am afraid the anti tattoo folks might get all up in my business but…

Last year DD and I got tattoos together. Hers is an anchor, symbolizing home/safe haven. Mine has an anchor and an airplane: home and travel/wanderlust. So DD is getting an anchor. For me: an airplane, an anchor, and a map pin. They are all the ”mini” size.

  • last year

Oh,, that is really nice, what a perfect gift!

  • last year

The description of the dessert dishes has me howling! I’m ordering 2 dozen!

Petalique, my first question with squirrel-proof feeders is, how long does it take for the squirrels to figure out how to get the food?

I'm not petalique, but we have had the feeder I posted up thread for at least 5 years and not one single squirrel has gotten a single morsel of food. Not one. They usually try at the beginning of spring every year and then give up and move over to the neighbor's not squirrel proof feeder. The design is simple yet brilliant and it is literally impossible for a squirrel to get any food.

We're getting a new sofa, so I don't know that we'll do much else for each other.

  • last year

OOh fun, before or after the tour!?

I got myself this pepper mill. I use a trader joe's disposable one and I wanted a nice one, but I do not like the shape of most I see.

I bought myself this scarf for Christmas! I will wrap it and say it was from Santa. I already have the shirt and cowboy hat.

    I love that scarf!

    Thanks, bpath!

My husband always rolls his eyes at my christmas list. This year I have asked for a battery operated blower. (We have a big backpack gasoline powered one which is too big and heavy for me to use.)

  • last year

Nekotish, we have the Milwauke battery blower (and also many of the tools). So does my sister and DD2.

  • last year

    This made me chuckle ...

  • last year

    Love itl

  • last year

Very out of character for me, but in the past few weeks I online ordered myself a thermopen, new dishes, 10 exercide tees to keep in my HHI place, and 2 pairs of pants. I skipped a wish list and went right to ”buy now”. No tequila was involved.

But seriously, I need help you guys. My DH is on my case for something he can buy me and I keep drawing a blank. I was thinking of a LongChamp le pliage in grey. I currently use a black one for travel that I got my DD at least 12 years ago and is now full of holes. I find they are just the right size for taking on a plane. I think in a pinch, I could fit my whole wardrobe/make up for a 3 day trip into one. But I keep thinking that I already have one. Do I really need a new one?

The only other idea I've had is a backpacking tent or high end sleeping pad. We are planning to do the West Coast trail on Vancouver Island (7 day hike) next summer and, while I love almost everything about camping, I wish I could transport myself home to my own bed every night.

I've enjoyed looking at your gifts for inspiration. Keep 'em coming.

  • last year

Umm if the current bag is full of holes, I’d say you need a new one!

It is pretty obvious that DH got me the big blankie I asked for, as a huge Cozy Earth box arrived on the porch the other day. I could use it right now, it’s snowing!

  • last year

The tee shirts arrived yesterday. Nine tees and a pair of pants were in the package. I did order pants recently, but not from the tee shirt people.

There is a shipping label attached to the plastic bags each item is in, including the pants, and that label indicates the contents are a v-neck tee, red. The pants are dark slate gray, men’s pants. I wonder if some poor guy received my exercise tee when he needed pants?

Now I have to go to the trouble to straighten this out. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, but I dislike online shopping.

  • last year

HH I hear you. For clothing I find online shopping very problematic. When it works, it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but there are shipping glitches and straightening them out is a pain. Also, the quality control is so off that the same tshirt in the same size in a different color can be a totally different fit and material. I think to be more successful at online shopping we have to be ready to do the returns. I marvel at so many on here who have so much good luck with online clothes shopping.

But hey good for you- 9 shirts and 2 pants would be a record anyday for me!

    what's HHI place?

  • last year

oooh ooh i know i know

HHI - Hilton Head Island because her screename is " Hilton Head Island reno"

    ohhh duh. Thank you.:)

While shopping for other items, I saw this at 40% off and grabbed it for me.

Even at full price, it's worth it. Thick comfy material with a nice drape, washes beautifully, oversized but not sloppy. I'm going to purchase other colors.

The woman checking me out grabbed it and said, "Oh! I love this material!"

@daisychain011, YES, you need another Longchamps Le Pliage. I have gray and navy currently in rotation. I have hot pink for summer. There was a hunter green at one time. I think DD ”borrowed” it. The holes happen. The company will repair the holes once.

@deegw, I have a pair of sweat pants that I bought at Target last year. The brand is Stars Above. They are the softest sweats I’ve ever owned. Plus they are relatively thin, which is perfect for my climate. Of course, Target no longer carries the Stars Above brand.! I’m going to check out what you found to see if maybe they are similar. The description sounds like they might be.

I bought a nice spa robe during my Hamptons Stay. But I ordered it directly from the mfr and the OSFA sizing was different, mine is too big. I feel dumpy in it. (i know it's only a robe but still).

I want terry or terry lined and it has to be pretty. I had a white Frette one with black piping for years and loved it. Looking at this but not sure what color I want. If I go pink I have to go w a medium which could be too small; not fmailiar with their sizing though I find robes are usually generous. 15% off, whoopee. I would not monogram.

    🙄

I went to vacume seal a few meals after Thanksgiving and got out the last of a series of Food Savers that I have owned. The first was great, every one since then has wasted more bag material and left more air in the bags and had more failures, so in my frustration I went to the internet and purchased a chamber sealer.

They have become much more affordable - Paid $199.00 on Black Friday. Since it is a gift from me, to me and I had more leftovers to freeze I decided not to wait for Christmas to try it out. It works beautifully!

  • last year

I tried my sister's HOKA Recovery Slides. They feel like you are walking on an anti-fatigue mat. Just have to find out what colors are available in my size across the internet.

  • last year

Jennifer, I bought those this summer and love the way they feel. I certainly have better looking slides, but comfort is key.

I went back and forth about the le pliage, but eventually settled on a very similar bag in leather from Madewell. It helped that it was on 50% off.

I picked up my gift to me tonight. I had an incredibly ugly ring that has been hanging around for years. It was a big cabochon stone surrounded by some teeny, tiny diamonds. I had the jeweler take out the diamonds and set them in one of those diamonds by the yard type necklaces. I've always liked those necklaces because they are so delicate and understated that you can wear them all the time.

  • last year

ooh, lets' see. Before and after!

  • last year

The before picture doesn't exist because the jeweler took apart the whole ring. The after looks something like this, but my stones are set only an inch apart. (I'm too lazy to go get it out of the safe and take a picture of the actual necklace.)

what a nice idea! that must have been some ring!
