Thanks petalique and I would do as you’ve suggested however the links just aren’t showing up to start the preceedure. Really appreciate your concern. Would you mind if I posted here a topic I’m wanting to ask about as time is running out?

Of course not. If you’d like, I can post a ”pointer” post for you.

Too bad you cannot bring up the Forum dirctly.

Thanks so here goes. Can you do a ‘pointer’ it would help I guess with any answers people might have.? Thanks so much. My question would be

    Outdoor Family Lunch

I am having a small get together next weekend on the Sunday at lunchtime, hopefully outside. It’s sort of an early family Christmas because others in the family will be going away. There will be 12-14 adults with two small children and a baby.

I’ve been thinking and planning what to do and have changed my mind a couple of times.

At the moment I’m thinking for a starter I will make a tray of hors d’ oeuvres consisting of

    smoked salmon on cucumber,

    rare roast beef on pumpernickel

labneh balls rolled in dill and sesame seeds

My stepdaughter will take the tray around to serve the others while all having a drink and chatting.

For the main course I was thinking of making a cold meat platter with rolled ham slices, prosciutto, salami and mortadella

A large turned out Russian salad

A tomato, red pimento and green split olive salad

    Small dinner rolls

Some flat bread (I’ll buy these both)

DH will cook some sausages on the BarBQ… perhaps this isn’t necessary.

A small plate of organic chicken nuggets for the children.

    For Dessert

I will buy a couple cakes from the bakery and decorate them with raspberries. Have a bowl of whipped cream available.

I thought I’d have tables for sitting and eating in the garden but the food at a self serve buffet inside.Bread, cutlery and condiments out on the table(s)

What do you think??? What have I missed.???

I have no trouble getting into these forums. They're on my desk top. The problem is trying to start a new post when in a forum. For example, I was in the Cooking forum and tried to start a new post. You are asked to select the Topics you want to post in. Cooking and The Kitchen simply weren't on the list.

Regarding Neely's party, it seems a bit heavy on meat. I'd want a leafy salad and some sort of alternative to cured meats. A cold roast chicken is easy. I'd also want cheese and some kind of flan or pie. Also I'd check that people like Russian salad. Nobody in our family does, including the Italian side. They have an aunt who produces one every Christmas which nobody eats. What age are the children? Are they used to having different food from the adults? Ours all eat what's on offer, not something else. Even the baby, now she's on solids just has the plainest of our foods either mushed or in her hands.

    That's interesting and odd, floral.

When I want to begin a post, I go to the forum, and one of the fields at the top is an invitation to post. I title and compose the post.

When I select ”Submit,” I get the following and the forum I am posting from is already displayed at the top left see the red marking.

Can I assume you know this and it used to behave this way for you, but no longer does — the current forum that you’re posting from is no longer shown or include?

Yes. It used to behave like that. But no longer. I now see this. If I scroll down neither Cooking nor TKT is there.

Can you post to other forums? “Toe Head Eel Farming?”

  • last year

Yes. I've just tried posting in Fruit and Orchards. It's on the list. Just not Cooking and TKT.

I'm on my phone. John Liu said he could post from his laptop but not his phone. I'll try the LT tomorrow. (It's 23.45 here and I'm not going down to the kitchen now!)

Ah, thanks to John Liu via Floral. Even on phone, I see Cooking comes up automatically if I request desktop view.

My situation is the same as florals.

I can’t get to a page where cooking shows up like FOAS shows us.

I have tried searching under ’Other’ and can get Cooking to appear and I post but goodness knows where it goes because it doesn’t show up here in these Cooking posts . I‘ve done this three times for my Outdoor Family Lunch… some where in the far reaches of the internet universe are my 3 posts (Laugh )

@neely - Are you on a phone? If so, click on the AA if on Safari,” …” if on Chrome or Firefox, or duckduckgo, I think those are the ones I have but regardless of your browser it shouldn’t be too hard to find ”request desktop website” and this version might help.

OK. Explain this. It seems the issue for me is only on Cooking and TKT.

The third link in the original post does not got to Home Decorating Conversations. It goes to a blog post about cooking radish greens. @petalique, you might want to correct that - although cooking radish greens sounds intriguing !

Has anyone reported the error and sent the screen shots from the phone app to Houzz support? If no on reports the bug, it could take awhile to be fixed.

I've just tried from my lapytop. Still no dice.

I just tried again but using a new link. No dice either way. Same problem as others. I can get on the site, comment but cannot start a new thread.

I posted this on another thread. On my Ipad, if I am in KT or HDC, when I post, the thread I am in comes up as an option. If I am not in it, it cannot be found. On my Iphone, it cannot be found at all.

The desk top, which was best, is a Windows 10 and they, Microsoft, decided to not support a perfectly good computer. I cannot afford to replace things every 8 to 10 years. I do not stream and I do not play games of any kind!

I do not use an app on anything, it does not work. I just use a link to Garden Web. Houzz is useless.

Skipping down to add that when I want to add a forum that's not included on the list when starting a topic, I start it from that forum, and then add the one(s) that do show up.

ETA - just checked and now I can pull up this forum when starting a topic, but Cooking's been MIA since they updated awhile back. I typed in 'conversations' and it showed up - I was surprised!

I have contacted through Houzz, stating the problem but I am yet to hear back from them

This is the response I received. I have sent back some screen shots

    Ні,

    Thank you for contacting Houzz.

Houzz is a platform dedicated to home improvement, decoration and renovation.

Since there has been some improvement on the platform, it is possible that the topic you are looking for doesn't exist anymore.

Can you please send us a picture of the drop-down menu you are looking into?

    Thank you,

    Lol - @neely

Last time I had an issue a few years ago Houzz support told me that there was no such thing as a Cooking forum. And never had been. The next support person I reached was able to help. I haven’t had the patience to navigate the Houzz support again. I need to try from my computer.

In any case Happy Christmas cooking to all on a rainy wintery day in Maine.
