Dry fingers on Touchscreens — your solutions?

Winter is here. I make a lot of typos and mis-hits because my dry fingers don’t reliably connect with the capacitance touchscreen.

Water-based lotions work, but I have to keep reapplying. Do any of you have a good solution*?

Don't clean your screen too often.

You might want to use a stylus

What is a stylus? It is a pen-like instrument used for interacting with touchscreens, such as those found on smartphones and tablets. With its fine tip, a stylus allows for precise and accurate input, making it ideal for tasks that require precision, like drawing or taking note.

I didn't even know such a thing existed. Found it in the What Can I Do section of this article, then googled "stylus" and found the answer.

According to the article, you're suffering from Zombie Finger :)

Thanks. I have a pen, but that is tiresome. I will probably have to resort to a wirelss keypad. Zomie finger — that’s me!

    I’m thinking…

They make gloves with a special conductive fingertip. I don’t want to wear glove/s, but perhaps I could just whpear the finger part, like a finger cot.

Am I the only one here with zombie finger?

I, too, have zombie fingers (never heard that term before but I like it). I have never had success with texting gloves, I always have to take them off to operate any touchscreen. Because of how often I have problems operating a touchscreen, my new cooktop has knobs not touch technology. I have Raynaud’s and handling cold food to make a meal always triggers an episode, then I can’t get the cooktop to work. I also have trouble getting a reading with a pulse oximeter. Zombie fingers indeed.

That must be awful. My feet turn colors — blue, purple, green-morgue purple.

I think maybe it is from walking 1/2 mile home from the skating pond when a young kid. I was sometimes the last one to leave and it was like walking on frozen hamburger bricks. Even once home my feel burned with pain. I never have mentioned it to a doctor, I don’t think there is anything to do but common sense measures (keep feet from getting cold).

My .hubs has the problem with dry cold fingers on the touchscreen. He uses a stylus at times. He also has tremors.

patalique, do you think maybe you got a bit of frost bite on your feet? My brother got his ears frost bitten when we lived in Fairbanks, many years ago .He was lucky to not lose them.

I remember one day when I was a young teen and walking home from school in below zero weather. It was something like 40 below zero that day. By the time I got home I was delirious and so overcome with the cold. Even the hot water of the hot shower was almost painful .I will never forget how cold I was that day! We had lots of cold days, obviously. But somehow that one cold day lives in my memory. The coldest we saw on the thermostat in the years we lived there was hovering at 60 below. My brother took a photo of the thermostat outside the window as proof. . I see the weather reports from up there now and dont see the deep cold that we used to have at that time.

I see that today it is 25 below up there. That fits with my memory.
