What color cabinets and walls???

What color should I paint the walls and cabinets to make this bathroom look more modern? The countertops will be replaced. The tub, shower, and tile will stay the same

Then it will never look modern You are pretty much forced to do those tones you have and IMO the wall color you have now would have been my suggestion. Maybe the cabinets painted to match either the floors or the tile around the tub. This space could be fabulous maybe try to consider a total redo and save toward that

What color is it currently - mint? Light blue? Looks like one wall of each on my monitor.

Patricia is right, but maybe a light sage would would be $100 and a weekend well spent until you can completely remodel.

Dark green on the cabinets, plain white quartz counter tops and a lighter green on the walls.

If it were me, I’d go with a nice cream wall color to harmonize with the tile, add a large seagrass rug, lots of white towels, rattan stool at the make up counter (I wouldn't pay to replace counters personally), + lovely fern on the tub edge and declutter

Would suggest you save up, remove the existing tub and deck and replace with a freestanding tub. The tub configuration plus the two differing tiles will forever date your bathroom.

I remember many years ago when I had an interior designer come to my home to help me pick paint colors. She picked "the perfect color". I ran out, bought a gallon, knowing it would be "perfect" and it looked like mud. Her response - I need to change the flooring to go with the "perfect wall color".

Not helpful - I could afford paint, not 1700 sq ft of tile.

I never did change my flooring, but I managed to find a color that worked with the tile flooring.

It was what started my journey helping people pick wall colors.

That's so disappointing, Jennifer, and a similar thing happened to me while using an interior designer. She was certain that a wallpaper would look good in my hallway, and I was too intimidated to disagree at the time. After 1 roll went up, my husband and I said, no way, take it down. That's when I decided to become a designer.

I concur with la la Girl. I'd find a nice neutral to harmonize everything. Then you can bring in color with towels, accessories, and add some texture.

Perhaps consider working with what you have by coordinating color wise and it will feel more modern and calmer as well. I’d paint the walls the same beige color as flooring and the vanities refinished darker to pull in the dark tiles. Before you decide on counters, be sure to consider all of the components.

Not a fan of brown in a bathroom

This bathroom is never going to be a spa like oasis, but it can be relaxing and peaceful and feel a lot better than it does today.

I would choose a less blue green and move to something earthier for the wall color.

The current icy blue green is enhancing the orange in the browns.

I am not sure if I would paint the cabinets, but I think I would leave them alone and spend a bit of money getting a new medicine cabinet - probably a simple beveled edge mirror. That is the one piece of wood that is at eye level and screaming at me.

With a simple light warm white countertop (something that works well with your trim color and not a stark blue white) you will have space that feels peaceful.

I have always loved the Devine Color "Date" with oak and browns. You can get a sample jar through Benjamin Moore.

There isn't a truly comprable color in BM or SW.

I like the green suggestion for the vanities with touches of black to coordinate with your pendant chandelier. You have a brass faucet on the bathtub so I suggest brass faucets for the 2 vanities. Personally I would prefer a warm white for the walls rather than a light green.

If the tile around the tub stays, I'd stain the cabinets dark walnut so that some of the finishes work with others. I would not bother replacing the countertops, as they look like they work with the floor tile.

I'd extend the mirrors to the soffit

Paint the walls a mushroom color

    Add orange towel accents.

Pick your countertop first. There are gazillions of paint colors. You’re stuck with the other hard finishes you have, so find a countertop that works with them. Then find a paint color that ties them together.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are planning on moving this summer, and just didn’t want to do a full remodel (which was the original plan when we bought the house). Maybe we can get away with demo the floor tile, tub and surround tile, but leave the shower tile, and find something coordinating. So much to consider.

You're moving in less than a year? Then please save yourself a lot of money and work and just paint the walls. Why do a partial renovation which won't be attractive to buyers. Either do a full remodel or leave it as is for the next owners to do it to their liking.

^ yes for sure, paint the walls and upgrade a few of the details (towels, soap dispensers etc)

Also, it would have been helpful if you had mentioned the move in your original post.

Opinion: After looking at so many bathroom renovation needs, Why do architects feel it is a good idea to put a window at the back of any tub you cannot reach unless standing in the tub just to balance the exterior. I lived with that for 20 years and hated every minute but the house style did not accommodate a change. Love my current home with no windows in either bath. Proper lighting and ventilation work.

So you are essentially asking us how to stage this room for resale. It really depends on the market where you live. If homes are selling fast, don't do anything but put some nice fluffy white towels out and ditch that bathmat. Give a deep clean and make it gleam. The next owner will gut it.

If you live somewhere that .homes are sitting on the market and it is worthwhile to invest in sprucing it up, I'd still only paint the room a nice white, and replace the black faucets and vanity hardware with polished chrome, somewhat contemporary fixtures. Add two nice soap dispensers and fluffy towels and be done with it.

If you'll be moving soon, just to give a fresh look to the room simply paint the walls. A warm white will do. If you want to do a little more, frame the mirrors.
