No. The canopy is meant to be surface-mounted. It would look weird recessed, aside from the fire hazard mentioned above.

It is "dedicated" led......"expected" to last and if not you throw it in the landfill.

Expected to last a lifetime until a leak ruins the entire fixture and you have to toss it in the trash. Happened to me. I'll never buy an integrated LED fixture again.

I remember when everyone on this app was suggesting intergrated LED. I was on the side of get something with sockets, bc you can choose what bulb you want to put in there. Anywho, that is how the fixture is to sit. You will create a nightmare for anyone in the future that would want to change it. Especially when the first LED fails.
