You would spend $7K on the unit and then modify it by removing the side shelves? Personally, it is very dated. But I prefer minimalistic myself.

Look at IKEA Besta -you can build it the way you want with a much more updated look and way less cost.

I love Besta and shelving is one of my big issues . Often there is nothing worth display on a bunch of shelves . My first question is what do you plan to put on the shelves ? Besta lets you put the pieces together for what you NEED and also to keep the TV at the proper viewing height and allow for a change in TV size down the road .This is one idea still with some shelves if you must

Rachel - Your second option is lighter. Why not paint your wall white and get a nice white long low credenza to put beneath it if you will actually use it for storage? How wide is your space and what do you intend to place on so many shelves?

The white pic you posted is partially great because of a soaring ceiling and lighting designer. Show us your actual space.

I had a unit build the company that built our kitchen cabinets. I sized it for a 75" TV and won't need anything bigger in that room. We have a media room with a 100" TV!

Patricia hates shelves, bur some of us have things we have collected during travels, or inherited, that we want to display and see every day. I don't care if others like, or don't like, what I display!

Can you post a picture of where you plan to install this unit? and the surrounding decor? It would help to determine if the style and colour suits the space.
